Im not sure what your trying to say. As much as fast and slow twitch is gentically predetermined, it is possible to to alter the amount of certain metabolic properties of these fibres from (which i havnt heard mentioned in this thread yet) a predominant oxidative capacity to a more glycolytic capacity, and vise versa. Noting that the glycolytic fibres are larger and are able to work without oxygen whereas the oxidative fibres posses more capillaries and mitochondria, and therefore dont produce lactic acid.

what i am saying is you can train to be better at endurance or better at strength by creating more fast or slow twitch fibres, but if you want hypertrophy its pointless training acording to your fibre type lifting heavy will engage all fibres,so even if you have slow or fast you will grow, but some will grow faster than others because of there genetic makeup.

This post for me is very difficult to understand, a lot of 'jargon' :(

Is it possible to adapt to having fast twitch fibres?

i get ya now buzz ;)

And betsie, well yes, lets say theres the two types right, and some that are kind of mixed. Well under appropriate training you can change these ones that posses a mixture to left or right, that is - fast or slow.

Ahhh ok, its just that I used to be a good sprinter and good at cross country when I was younger so I am not sure which I am.
