Appropriate Diet

Hi guys,

I'm new to the forums. I'm 20, in university (2nd year) and I'm looking to lower my weight by about 2 stone.

I'm 6'1 and I currently weigh around 15 stone (210 pounds). When I entered my first year of university I was in excellent shape and was a keen runner, I ran about 5 times per week.

Since then university living (beer and takeaway) has taken its toll and I now have more flab than I care to live with :p

I just wanted to know if the way I have been proceeding with my weight loss is appropriate or whether I need to be doing something else...

Currently I keep a calorie diary where I simply monitor my calorie intake per day and I try to eat around 1400 per day. I am a member of my local gym and go running on the treadmills/cycle twice a week. (I tend to burn about 400-500 calories per session - according to the console).

I basically want to lose 1.5 stone in the next 2 - 2+1/2 months.

Am I going about the process correctly or do I need to do something else?

It sounds like you're doing a great job!!

Some tips I have found to help is-

Increase my water intake
Make sure I get good protein after my workout
Make sure I include a balance of cardio and weight training into my exercise- and mix it up!

You seem to be doing a great job so far! Counting calories and exercising are key ingredients to weight loss!!

You might find it helpful to start a diary on here- you can record what you ate (how much and when) and the exercises you're doing. not only can you keep track, but it lets community members help you out if you're not getting the results you wish!

Good luck! And keep us updated! You sound like you have a fantastic attitude towards your goals!
