Anyone watching Biggest Loser?

I too watch every week- it really motivates me and shows me that I don't have to wimp out during my workouts when I see these people jogging, lifting, working out for hours at a time. It makes me believe in and stretch my own abilities.

That said, there are several things that really bug me about the show (all of which have been previously mentioned):

1. The product placement is so cheesy! We already sit through the darn commercials and I think it's lame to make the contestants participate in that.
2. The obvious nutritional element of showing people how to eat, portions, etc. is totally lacking. It makes me wonder how people like Melissa could gain a pound if they only have healthy foods around and are supposedly being taught these things- what do they have doughnuts in the pantry to to see if they can make the right choices? (and did Melissa get into them lol?)
3. What is the deal with Jillian's product line?? The cleanses, the pills....and the outrageous cost of it all! It makes her totally hypocritical, preys on people desperate to lose weight who will buy her products just because they watch the BL and believe she (and her products) can make it happen for them! I've lost respect for her.

So glad Melissa's gone. I'm surprised both Darus(sp?) and Ashley and their moms have all made it this far. The Grey team is the embodiment of all that's positive about the show!

I read this morning that a woman is suing Jillian because after a month of using an endorsed product the woman didn't lose weight. Maybe it will get her off the boxes and back in show mode.

I just watched Biggest loser Australia season one (for no reason but because I am trying to avoid studying so I will watch anything!) and Jillian was much more nice support and much less psychobabble counsellor. She called them "sweetie" and would jog with the slowest one and encourage all the way, she would hold hands when they got injured... I think either they asked her to be more tough (so that they can be mellow Bob and tough Jillian) or they edit it in a way that all the nice is cut out of Jillian's footage. I may also think this because I loveeeeeeee her! Maybe she is just bored of doing the same thing over and over again and that is why she is turning into a gossipping information obsessed fauxchologist.
Oh and the product placement... I dunno if suing woman had listened to Jillian talk rather than just at the ads she would have heard her saying that it is a numbers game, cals in vs cals out, full stop. Eat right and exercise right, no pills no bullshit.

Anyhow I have not seen this weeks episode yet and nwo have spoiled it for myself, I hate when I do that and yet... I do almost every week.

Hello, I watch the BL and some reason I dont find this season as good as seasons past.

I think its the people on the show this season.

I agree with other that there are WAY TOO many commericals...and that the product placement is cheesy.

MUST CHEW SUGAR FREE EXTRA FREE GUM!!!

What is up with stacking the teams up like that? Talk about unfair! I am now going for the black team I hope they do very well.

Bye Miggy! She came around towards the end, but of the people left she was still on my top 3 I'd like to leave. Also, can't believe Michael stacked the teams that way, and they still lost. Talk about putting a GIANT bullseye on his back.

I really really dislike Michael. Not just because he played it really awfully against the black team (man do I wish Jillian gets him just for a day to torture freely!), but his speech: "I have never done anything for myself" erm yeah Mike, you surely are a martyr!

I loved loved loved the black team winning, almost everyone I like is in the black team now (well I like some of the blue... I like Koli and Darris, I don't care much about Sunshine and her dad (her name makes me want to punch someone... not her because she did not chose it but couldn't she go by something else like Sun for instance? Who will take you seriously if your first name is Sunshine?), dislike Michael, red husband and Miggy). I like everyone on the black team though... not a big fan of people trying to be clique-y though ("let's build an alliance")... that just leads to drama and seems to be "scripted" so they can then advertise it as "betrayal in the black group" and "her best friends went against her".

Otherwise a really good show this week, kept me interested and watching (the olympic one did not, I kept fast forwarding to get to the weigh in).

I Live in Australia and its currently on atm. I prefer the Australian version more than the American One. Its a good idea to set your own fitness goals along side a season of biggest loser and watch it every night. That way when you watch it every night you may get inspired to workout yourself. Just an Idea

Man, is it just me, or is anyone else annoyed by the amount of exposure Sunshine and O'neil get. It seems like after EVERY event they pan to them to talk about it.
Ah well, theyre trying hard, so thats the important thing.

Still rooting hard for the gray team! Both of those brothers are totally an inspiration to me.

I just started watching it a couple weeks ago. I went back to the beginning (online) and watched in order. I typically hate reality shows and avoid them at all costs, but this one has hooked me. Since the start, I think my favorite person as been Darris. I don't know, something got to me about him in the first episode. And I quickly started liking his mom. She came out of her shell so much! I cried last night when she was voted off and I was so proud of her during the "what they look like now" part.

But, like other people on here, I like Stephanie, the grey team (felt SO bad for Sam last night, he worked so hard!) and I hate, hate, hate the red team. I was so happy when Melissa got voted off, I did a little dance of joy. Which is a real shame, because at first I wanted to root for her. My name is Melissa too and her starting weight was pretty close to mine. Shame she was such an innoying #%&$*. Now I'm waiting for her husband to go, I never liked him either.

The pink team is alright, but I didn't like the daughter at first. She reminds me of someone I don't like. But she's grown on me a bit. I was so touched during the teacher/student week when they really seemed to make the choices based on what was best for the teams. They could have "played the game" on that one, but didn't. I never did like the daughter of the green team either and her mom was only slightly better. I did feel bad for her when she had to have sugery though. And I thought they took it in bad grace when they fell below the yellow line the first time. They didn't seem to want to admit that the 2 pound penalty didn't make any difference, they still would have been below.

I, too, hate the stupid product placement crap and wish they would show more of the nutritional part. That actually fooled me the first few times into thinking they were going to do that, until they whipped out the specific brand stuff. And they could make it a 1 hour show if they cut out half the commercials!

I agree about all the people you mentioned! Really like Steph and the gray team the most. I actually laughed out loud at something Daris did last night. After Steph blew the weigh in, they panned to Daris, and he was smiling ear-to-ear. Thought it was HIGHlarious.

Also, they caught me on product placement last night. I was listening to Sam talk about how he forgot his lunch, and then OUT OF NOWHERE they namedrop Subway like 10 times. Only then did I sigh and fast forward to the next segment LOL.

So, thoughts about last night?

I was so excited they actually talked about the food a little bit without the stupid product placement ads. And I felt so, so bad for the black team. My favorite person on there is still Daris, but I think I'm cheering for the black team as a whole more then the blue.

I wanted them to win the hotel stay so bad! And then my heart just broke for them at the end. Especially Stephanie! I wondered at the time if it was a TOM issue, but the game doesn't really make allowances for that. Yet another reason why it's so much easier for men. :p No one voted for her at the end though, so it makes me wonder if they knew something we don't. That's not something they are really going to talk about on camera.

I was so proud of Sam and Koli both! And that "I love you, I'm proud of you" speech.

I thought last night's episode was great. I'm with you, on rooting for the black team (as a whole) over the blue team. I have to admit that it really irked me when Michael stacked the teams the way he did.

Speaking of Michael, my thoughts are with he and his family, although I do find it very bizarre that such a stressful week resulted in a 10lb. loss for him. I was like WHAT ? !

Anyway, bring on the rest of the season. I can't wait to see how this all plays out!

I'm not much into the show but once in a while i'll get roped in and can't keep my eyes off for the episode.
I have a good friend who watched and then asks me what she is doing wrong. It is hard some times to compare TV to reality.
Last year I volunteered to be a trainer in a local Biggest Loser competition to get a hands on feel for the show. I told my team that I wanted them to get 2-3 hours of activity a day. We ended up winning for most weight loss total, but it was a real eye opener for both them and me. We lived in the gym, I didn't see my friends for 6 weeks and even with that much work (and a strict diet from a nutritionist) we were pulling in 3-4 pound a week losses at the most. It was a great learning experience for sure.

HEY HEY HEY

GOODBYE

Seriously, that cupcake fiasco made me not like red team all over again.

REALLY like the rest of the contestants, and I want to see how everyone looks at the finale!

I loved it that Lance didn't think of Coli when he was eating all those cupcakes and still lost!! The look on his wife face was priceless! I could tell they were both thinking - just one more cupcake!
