I never watched it before but since all "my" shows are on winter break it seems, I started watching it and now I am hooked. I also watched an accelerated version of the last season (by watching episodes 1, 5, 10 and the finale sort of thing).
I don't care that what they do is unrealistic, I mean maybe because I am thin in comparison or maybe because I see it for what it is: a TV show, a game. The fact that they eat 1200 cals and work our 8 hours a day is a game, of course nobody can do it at home. And unless they change their lifetsyles big time non of them will maintain the loss. But it is still very entertaining! And "So you think you can dance" isn't on until the summer again so I was having a reality TV itch.
What bothers me about the program is that they rarely show how they teach them about nutrition and show them contantly crying on the floor of the gym. I mean nutrition is one of the pillars of weight loss and in the long run knowing about nutrition is more important than knowing how to step on a treadmill.
I also don't understand why they don't have therapy in there. While they are at it they could splurge for a psychologist to talk to them a couple of times a week couldn't they, instead of having Jillian, who has no training in psychology, scream at them and belittle them to get their emotions out and to get behind the weight problem. Morbidly obese people, especially those they take (most of them with a story behind it, death of parents or siblings or even spouse and children, abuse, etc...), don't just decide to eat 12,000 cals a day, they are eating as an addiction or as a soother.
But apart from that, I like the show, I find the challenges fun, I like the fact that their transformations are so visible, so obvious. And I even like Bob and Jillian, I find them endearing. So if someone wants to discuss the episodes here I would be happy to discuss along.
