Anyone have Hypothyroidism??

Does anybody here have problems with hypothyroidism? I have been on Synthroid for two months now and my thyroid levels have dropped. My doc will not do anything about it and refuses to change anything because my T4 is on the lower end of normal. I run 3-4.5 miles almost daily and weight train 3-4 times a week. I also consume 1400-1700 calories daily and have been doing this for ten months. The weight will not budge. The doc doesn't want to test my levels again for another year. I can't do this for another year. Exercise and eating healthy is part of my lifestyle and that will never change but the stress of not losing this weight is really getting to me. Does anybody know anything about this or have had similar experiences?

Hi Amy.. i'm Amy and I have it as well.

Umm March 30th or maybe it was April. I believe i found out .. or at least took some tests to find out.

Sorta have the same problem.. i am on .125mg of Snythroid.. suppose to help.. my levels are stable.. but now my body is trying to kill off the thyriod and get it out of my body because it's not of any use.. so Dec doign the tests again see if the stable level of snythriod has helped at all.. if not.. taking it out and upping the dosage again.

I eat rather well.. exercise a lot.. and may lose 1-3 pounds a month..
so now i have stepped up my game.. a lot. I hope i can get some of this weight off by December, but honestly.. i doubt it.

My diary actually has the levels i think mt THS was 58 when they found out...

anyways.. nice to see someone with the same mountain to climb, even though i wish both of us have to take this journey.. it will get better just keep going strong.

I have it to

I've got hypothyroidism.
I had my thyroid taken out around 5 years ago.
I've been on levoxyl every since. For the first several months I had my levels checked every month or every other month. After they seemed to settle down I had them checked every 6. When I got pregnant they were checked every month.
I found a good doctor and now that I have dealt with needing thyroid medicine for so long I can feel when it seems off, so I just call up and he lets me come in and get them checked.
It can be hard for the doctor to figure out when to change the dose. They look at the T3,T4 and TSH.

Once I got on thyroid medicine I think I did drop some weight but it didn't just fall off. I had heard about people who lost lots of weight from going on the medicine.

I do think it has made it slightly easier to lose weight but not easy, just not almost impossible.

Keep up the effort and if you don't feel comfortable with your doctor remember he's not the only one.

Also do you go to a family doctor or an endocrinologist?

Hi Lizz! Thanks for sharing. I knwo hwo you feel, a frien dof mine got on synthriod to lose weight. even though there is nothign wrong with her thyriod (she's a nurse they didnt even test for it or do an ultrasound), and she is lossing weight like crazy.
