Anyone From Michigan?

I'm from GR, too.

Hello! I live in the grand rapids area.

I just signed up for this forum, so I'm still figuring out how everything works. haha

Anyway, I'm Betsey. I'm at about 210 and I'd like to set a few goals for my weight loss. I'm going to set my first goal at 180. Once I get there I'm going to 150. From there, I hope to get to 135.

I also am going to quit smoking and cut back on drinking.

Wish me luck! :piggy:

Good luck with your weight loss, fellow Grand Rapidian! :hurray: I think this forum is lacking Michiganders--which is too bad..lol.

Anyway, feel free to swing by my diary and say hello. :)

I just moved to Michigan from Virginia (I'm originally from Scotland though). Moved here almost a month ago because my boyfriend got recruiting orders here (he is active duty U.S Navy). We love it so far, even if where we are is a concrete jungle.

Anyway, I'm in Canton, about 20 mins from Ann Arbor.

I was at my heaviest weight of 199 about eight months ago(?) and now I'm about 146. My goal weight is 125. I'm eager to drop the rest of the weight but, I seemed to be maintaining during the past month or so because of the move and I haven't been to the gym since I moved. Will be joining a new gym in the next week.

I was just in Ann Arbor a few weeks ago. I've got a friend in Dearborn, so we get over to that side of the state every few months or so. I don't know much about Canton, but Ann Arbor is great.

Nice job taking off the weight!

Flint area here. Lacking motivation...

If you're lacking motivation, you're not serious enough about it yet. This means you'd rather continue with the status quo more than you want to make the sacrifices neccessary to achieve your goals. Until you reach the point where losing the weight becomes a top priority, you won't be successful longter. You might lose a few lbs, but then you'll put them back on. Sorry to be harsh, but there's no point in sugar coating things. :)

Go bounce around here and read some of the stickies and some diaries from those who've had good success. It might just motivate ya. ;)

Haha, maybe its because I was never there between May and August. Nope, have never made it up to the UP.

Well then, you should come back for a vacation during the summer. Hang out on the West coast, though-where the good beaches are. Or get up to the UP--it is stunning in the summer.

Wow how cool.

Petoskey area here... grandparents live in the UP go every summer. :)

EDIT: thimbleberry picking! ;)

I have to agree with all that was said here.

When people tell me they are not motivated yet I believe it's not their time, they haven't reached breaking point.
