I am a newbie to this forum and I just started my weight loss journey. I am working hard to lose weight, but have decided to take a suppressant. I was at the IDEA World Convention last week, was anyone else there? I spoke to Jim Stepanian, CEO of MNS, he was promoting a new diet pill called Weight Science that has a variety of herbal ingredients to suppress appetite. It included Hoodia, Garcinia and Chromium Picolonate. I have heard of Hooida and Chromium, but what is Garcinia?

Has anyone used this product? or Can anyone comment on Garcinia Cambogia? Does Hoodia really work or is it just another fad?

I would seriously avoid all the BS pills and supplements, losing weight works when you believe it will and nothing is faster or better than counting calories and exercising.

I have lost a lot of weight in less than 17 months without using any pills or potions of the type that you describe. These companies aim to convince people that they do need that kind of assistance when they dont. You would be surprised how many people come onto this forum and try to sell such things.

It is perfectly possible to lose a large amount of weight using hard work, sound nutrition and consistent exercise.

At the end of the day you will have learnt new habits that should keep you slim into the future.

I have Found something

I have always been willing to try new things but after i lost so much money i stopped buying and started researching. The problem with losing weight has always been a master hormone called Leptin and a dysfuntional message it sends to the brain that controls appetite and fat storage. And there has never been a product to balance the hormone to send the right signal you would want to start losing weight and keep it off. Of course a healthy diet and a good exercise program will always help but there is a pill to control those messages. Scientists have spent 7 years trying to control it and they have finally came up with max wlx it was launched less than a month ago. I personally know 16 people that have seen amazing results from 12-18 Inches in a week in a half. Oh and the best part is its all natural no stimulants.give it a look

I've heard that garcinia is also used in skin care products to reduce fat and celulite. But have no information on how it works.
There is a website about Hoodia Diet where you can find all the information about it and then decide if this is for you. I don't know if I can publish it here, so please PM me if the admin delets it.

I heard that it really works, but haven't tried it myself.
I hope this helps.

I agree with most of the others here, avoid pills. Even if you do get down to your ideal weight with the "help" of pills...you're going to turn around and gain it all back because you depend on the pills to get you the results you want. What you need is a lifestyle change. You can tell your brain to "stop telling me I'm hungry!" instead of using a pill to do that for you. Drink more water, eat smaller/more frequent meals, etc. Determine your BMR, determine what your caloric needs are for the day and deduct a safe percentage. Set attainable goals!

For me, I've printed off calenders. Each saturday is weigh-in day. I need to lose 1.5# each week to make my goal by January. Using a daily diary and counting calories has really helped me. Like others here, using exercise to burn even more calories will help you lose weight faster.

Do what you want to do, but do it safely and be informed.

Jannybee - i'm curious -you've lost 44lbs and kept it off for 2 years - from what you've said you've done it thru nutrition and lifestyle changes... are you suggesting that diet pills might be a good idea?

i've been using Garcinia Cambogia weight loss pills. They really helped me, I've been taking Garcinia Cambogia for two weeks and I’ve lost 10lbs. Now I have a decreased appetite and I have more energy. I also think that knowing I’m taking these pills is assisting my own personal motivation with exercise.

If you believe that knowing that you are taking a pill is affecting motivation and exercise - then this would be similarly affected if it were a placebo you were taking. The placebo effect is well documented...

I personally have only tried green tea tablets, and metabolism increasing tablets to aid with my weight loss (didn't work!) but my Mum tried taking weight loss tablets just over a year ago, and saw no improvement whatsoever, she ordered them from a proper chemists, but they did nothing, they also come with side effects - drowsiness, sickness, diarrhea, the works! So, my advice would be to stay clear and lose weight naturally! :)
