So im looking for some type of cooking appliance to buy. I want something like a goerge forman grill type deal. Makes cooking easy but i want one that will cook the most fat out of the food possible trying to eat as healthy as i can. Any suggestions?

well, eating healthy doesn't mean you can't have fat. if you really want fat to run off then just use a grill or broiler pan. some foods can be rinsed, like ground beef. is there something specific you plan on cooking that you would like to retain less fat?

Nothin much spacific. See I can't diet at all now because im pregnant. And I've been doing REALLY bad with eating. Like fast foods and just stupid foods. And I am horrified of gaining tooo much weight then having a hard time trying to get it off. So I figured maybe if I got a george forman grill or something along that line it might help. I can cook up chicken and some steamed veggies or pasta. The night before and pack my meals for the next day. My problem is is absoultely HATE cooking. So its its something that's gunna take me forever to make forget it. But I want something that cooks quick so ill be motivated to use it. And just so you know im not trying to lose weight at all. I just know if I get into a rutine of eating healthier now I will stick to it so that ill already be used to it by the time I have the baby and can lose the weight. I haven't gained much so far which is good started out at 132lbs. Im now at 148lbs. So only 16lbs I've gained and im due in aug (im 25wks tomorrow). Oh and this is baby number 3 incase you were wondering. Thanks...

the george foreman grill cooks quick, but it also dries out the food a bit.... and it's a bitch to clean...

Go to thelibrary or a bookstore and check out the cookbook section on quick meals -there are 100s of cookbooks out there that can be done quickly with minimal ingredients...

and the nag in me says nutrition is something that you will need to learn in order to teach your children about healthy eating - so they don't end up fighting weight problems...

Folic Acid, or folate is the utmost important. Normal RDA is 400mcg for men and women over 19 years. For pregnant women it jumps to 600. Natural sources such as fruits and vegetables are the best sources, but a lot of cereals are fortified with it.

hmmm.. there's hardly a gadget I haven't tried... The ones I like best are the GF grill (don't forget the food cooks much faster, so don't overcook it and clean it while it's still warm.. makes life easier), my toaster oven (broil small amounts of food without having to heat up the big oven), and my BBQ grill (nothing beats food cooked over charcoal... yummy).

You don't have to worry about the difficult clean up on the George Foreman ( if you don't already own one) The new ones have removable dishwasher safe parts.

Don't dishwashers (I'm asking because I don't own one) reduce the non-stickiness of the grill plates?

It is a bitch to clean, but I don't find it dries out the food that much.

I've cooked fish, scallops, shrimp, zucchini, chicken and beef on mine and absolutely love it. I'd say everything has turned out fantastic with the exception of steak. If you don't keep a close eye on it, steak will dry out quickly.

I have a newer model though... I can't speak for the older ones.

I hate doing dishes, and I never found my GF grill to be hard to clean. If you do it right away after you remove the food, all you have to do is wipe it down with some damp cloths or paper towels.

God Bless,
mik

MooCow really has the right idea - there's nothing I can't cook in my toaster oven - and a little bit of tin foil on the broiler pan -and clean up is non existant and youdon't heat up the kitchen...

or get a grill pan for the stove...

Even better - get the ZipLock steamin' bags and you can make just about anything in them within 10 minutes with NO clean up :D Except your dirty plate that is :D

God Bless,
mik
