Any martial arts to take to increase lethality ?

Hi all, there's a few reason why I want to take up some form of martial arts. My first and foremost reason is lethality. I want to learn how to neutralize and effectively kill the person in front of me in as little time as possible and in some cases maybe stealthily.

Currently I'm slightly proficient in knife combat and basic weapon (rifle) combat.

Doing this for fun, interest, some form of self defense and also because I'm in the military.

In case the other guy gets to me before I pump 600 rounds into his head ;)

Are there any arts specifically for doing this?

Maybe look into Krav Maga? Its an Israeli martial art form aimed mainly at complete neutralization and/or death of your opponent from what I'm told.

Please don't go around stealthily killing people at random though... o.o Death is, on average... bad.

Yeah I looked into it and its pretty interesting. Most forces learn Krav Maga if im not wrong.

I prefer to look into MA as a supplement to aid myself, be it I'm in Jeans or in combat gear (definitely wont be doing that 50 feet in the air spinning kick with that).

I'm not an advocate of just going around killing people for fun dont worry :) I only do it if I have to.

Are they not teaching you to kill leathally enough in the military? Everyone I k now that is in the military spends a lot of time doing combat training. Have they dropped the unarmed portion out of it?

i was about to say the same thing. uhh the military is supposed to teach you to effectively disarm and kill someone? or is that just a myth haha

MCMAT is a newish type of MA (they call it that, but there's no art to it) and it gets taught in the american military, marines i think it was.
outside of that, Krav Mega is probably your best choice. especially if you find a proper, ex-military, hardcore instructor, thats willing to cut the bull**** and tell you straight out, if you dont do something a certain way or at all, you will die.

theres my twobob:)

I think Richard Marcinko sums up hand-to-hand combat pretty well in his autobiography: knives are tools, and hand-to-hand combat is for Hollywood. If you're able to sneak up on someone, then you're able to sneak past them without alerting them. Special Forces missions are successful only when there is no contact or kills. Ask any Recon Marine about that.

You're right, but theres one thing - I'm not in recon, recce, neither am I OPSPEC. Hand to hand combat imo works on the ground when you are not able to get your knife out in time and on a normal patrol or peacekeeping mission your weapon is normally in safe mode AND not loaded at all (hows that for deterence :D).

I do agree that no kills is always the best way to accomplish a mission behind enemy lines but thats not my job :D

Btw yes I did receive basic unarmed combat training and slightly advance unarmed combat training in the infantry before I got posted to the navy. But hey I'm just interested there's gotta be a faster way to disarm and or kill a person faster (again not that I would just go around using it).

Most of the time though if anyone can get through the shellings, MG fire and what all other kinds of BS being thrown at them before they can engage in hand to hand combat (somehow assuming you run out of ammo and decided not to go for your knife)

I would salute that guy first. So I guess I just wanna take up this MA for sports and maybe some life beneficial skills ;)

Well, if you want sport that will have some carryover to self-defense look into Muay Thai or Thai Boxing, MMA, Brazilian jujitsu (make sure they have a stand up portion), or Judo.

American Kenpo is pretty awesome as it's stripped down offensive attacking but doesn't have sport applications. Hapkido is also awesome but has very limited sport application unless you're in California or want to travel to California.

There's always fencing and choose saber or go Kendo and keep a cane with you at all times.

The way I see it, Krav Maga is basically an incorporation of different martial arts concepts and finding the most basic, lethal, and practical ones.

If I have to rate different martial arts or self defense disciplines, it's going to be [1] Krav Maga, [2] Aikido, and [3] Arnis, Kali, or Eskrima.

Krav Maga is extremely efficient, in terms of both learning and use.
