Hello my name is Tim I'm 26 5'10 and 426 pounds. I've decided that I finally need to do something about my weight I'm sick of being tired, not being able to buy clothes at the store, and most of all being invisible to everyone but my friends. Basically I'm hoping to get some help from people that were or are currently in the same situation.
I've been fat my whole life in fact I tried out for wrestling when I was in 6th grade and I weighed 180 lbs for some reason that memory has always been burned in my head forever.
I'm really at a lose on how to correctly go about this thing I have started eating vastly smaller portions, stopped drinking soda, and I'm really trying to get some exercise.
I have a tread mill and I get in my mind the I'm some healthy fit person and I think I'm unstoppable but in about 10 minutes I'm sweating profusely and I'm extremely winded. Here is a current picture of me that made me finally decide to do something about this weight issue before it kills me.

Good luck!

It takes a lot of guts to make that decision to start. At your weight I highly suggest you see your doctor before you do any dramatic diet changes or exercise.

However, eating smaller portions, quitting sodas and walking on your treadmill are all good things to start.

It took your whole life to get that fat don't expect over night changes. However, if you can commit to 2-3lbs per week weight loss you'll notice dramatic changes in a few short months. In you favour, is that you are young and male. Your early weight loss will probably be faster if you stick to a well balanced, calorie controlled diet with some reasonable fitness goals.

Thank you for the reply! I realize that it's probably a good idea to see a doctor but it is really hard seeing as I don't have any health insurance and haven't for 7 years now. I'm seeking advice from my mother which is and RN and my grandmother who has had the gastric bypass surgery for their diet and exercise tips. But, I do eventually want to see a doctor as long as I'm eating healthy and not overexerting myself I don't see how it can be any worse then the shape I'm currently in.

hi. Goodluck!
Something you should try is to drink alot of water. I stopped drinking soft drinks 2 months ago. I went cold turkey and ended up with headaches for 6 days. But now I feel alot better. PLus I no longer get the stomach craps all the time like I did when I would drink Pepsi.
yea I know how it is with the doctor situation. I don't have insurance either.

I think I've been lucky in that I haven't really gotten all that addicted to soda I stopped drinking it in March and I can say I honestly haven't missed it. Now beer that is another story but I'm cutting back on that to.:blush5:

Well I weighed myself for the first time since I posted my intro and I'm down to 404 I feel much better already I've even made it to 30 mins on the treadmill 3-4 times a week and I've been keeping much busier. I'm having a problem though now that I already feel like I don't need to eat nearly as much as I used to I've been losing track of when I eat and I've only been eating around 1100 calories. I usually have a bowl of oatmeal made with water some days a boiled egg with that and apple, banana, or mango as a snack things like tuna, salmon, and chicken, or shrimp and some veg for both dinner and lunch. I've been sticking to serving sizes for everything and even bought a digital food scale.

Sounds like you're off to a great start. Just wanted to say Hi and good luck with your weight loss. Oh, and I like your shark shirt....lol!

Thank you for the encouragement I really appreciate it. And everyone seems to love that shirt people even do the jaws music as I walk by them sometimes. :smilielol5:

Hey! Good that you're deciding to make the change :)! I really wish you the best of luck and hope you get some support out of this forum. About the treadmill thing.. I don't know if it's the best advice, but how about just take it really slow and make it to half an hour of walking? And step it up a notch once you feel it's too easy, but only after you finished the whole 30 minutes at a lower level, step it up easily.
