Right, so you guessed it, I'm new here. Now I'm supposed to pour out my life's story in 500 words or less. Preferably a lot less...

I grew up in a large family (5 kids) with lots of drama and fighting. I turned to food to comfort myself. Shocking right? Then I developed an eating disorder. Then my body got the idea that I was starving and I binged for a couple of years straight.

Fast forward to now. I'm 19 years old. At the end of the month I'll be 20. I'm fat. I'm not so happy about it. Currently I'm 5'9" and weigh 214 pounds. This is my highest weight ever. Not something I'm excited about.

Anyways, I'm looking to make some friends, lose some weight, and start getting regular exercise again. I always feel tons better when I am exercising regularly.

Hi and Welcome!

I'm from a large family also and like you turned early to food for comfort, escape, to ease boredom and lots of reasons that have little to do with nourishing my body. You are young enough to learn good habits that can keep you fit for your whole life, and avoid the yoyo dieting that many (me) have to deal with.

Take it slow, learn as much as you can and don't be afraid to ask for help when you hit a bump in the road!

Welcome to WLF! It's awesome that you are committing to make the change in your lifestyle.

I can definitely relate to you in the food=comfort thing. Food was my safety, always there when something happened or I had a bad day. It was a horrible habit and I'm definitely ready to change that.

You should head on over to the diary section and start one up if you haven't already. Coming here is the best thing that I've ever done... aside from deciding to make the change in my life. :] Enjoy it here. Ask questions and don't be afraid to. There's TONS of people here who are pretty darn smart who are willing to lend a hand or an ear!
