Another New Kid; I've got a question

Hi! I'm new here. I have been reading other people's posts for a while; this site is so inspirational, especially the before and after pictures.

On December 26 I started counting my calories and exercising. I have been doing very well, and am very proud of myself. I have a question though. I had planned to lose 2 lb. a week. But the first week I lost four pounds instead. Knowing the first week is usually the easiest, should I refigure my weight goals according to that?

I know this sounds really calculated but it helps me to think of weight loss in math. So if I had planned to lose down to 218 this week. But I accidentally lost down to that last week, should I have 216 as my goal this week? I hope this makes sense.

Thanks! I'm excited to be here!

IMO I think that you should not refigure. Some weeks you are going to lose more, some less. If you are wanting to put a solid number, you might consider a percentage for the month that way on a weekly basis you would have more flex with you numbers but still meet your set goals or in your case... exceed them!!

Kudos on the great first week!!! Keep on, keeping on!!!

Yeah you always loose more in the first couple weeks, Its a nice buzz to start any diet :D

But you will find some weeks you will maintain and others drop. I find setting a monthly goal easier and better, because over the period of a month it all seems to even out.

I think I will switch to a monthly goal. You're right; the first few weeks are like 'yeah! I'm a weightloss genius!' Thanks for your help!
