Hi there! Another forum virgin, also from the UK, Im from North London.
To begin with, done with your weight-loss!.
Have joined to see if I can find some inspiration, going on holiday in September and would love to be able to wear something other than a swim-tent!! and to not fear being mistaken for something that would be harpooned!.
Currently 196 pounds, but I have been told for my height (5ft 5in) I should be around 130ish!?. Have tried just about every diet on the market and haven't had a great deal of success!, one main fault I have is a lack of patience!! I will try something for a couple of weeks and then when no results give-up
Anyway, have now joined a gym and bought a bike! so fingers crossed this will help! I am reading all the different threads on here and hopefully will find something that will work for me!. Keep up the good work y'all!!
Have you considered not dieting?
I'm a firm believer that "diets" set us up to fail. Especially if it's restrictive. We lose a little, go "off" the diet, go back to our old ways of eating, then gain it all back plus some.
No Thanks! I don't ever want to do this again
I found what's worked for me was counting calories (as much as I REALLY did not want to do that!) Knowing how much was going in has made a huge impact on my daily life. I have been able to learn what a portion actually looks like and hopefully, as I reach my goal, I will have enough practice at maintaining the weight without gaining.
If you haven't already, you might check out or they are both resources for tracking calories, nutrition and fitness.
hi from a fellow brit. lived in london for 10 years, now down in devon.i have found this website to be so supportive and helpful and i am often to be found browsing around for motivation, especially as i have a lot to lose. counting calories is the way to go i believe also. i find if i dont count reasonably strictly then i stop losing.i find my guesses are wildly inaccurate - cant believe how many grammes of pasta etc i was eating before. i have been known to eat nearly half a small packet at a time good luck, slim
