Ok so finally realized how to do this...:D ..WEll Im a 30 year old, who has always had a weight problem.. ALL my life i was chubby, got mistreated and made fun off all my life..which of course gave me a whole bunch of self image and self-esteem issues, even as an adult. Going through school has been very stressful, so much i ballooned way out of control..and weighted 253 pounds...and got diagnosed with hypertension, and the asthma i had suffered as a child came back. SO i decided i had to do something about it. In February I started, with my eldest sister, i stopped eating chocolate, which is i have to admit my downfall, also stopped any fried stuff, im puertorrican and most of what we eat and like is fried and its a lot of carbs, lol...I also started to walk on my treadmill which was collecting dust for years. Now ive lost 23 pounds, Im walking 3 miles 5 days a week and drinking tons of water and crystal light peach iced tea..wHich i recommend to those who dont like water like me...lol..I need the support of others like me going through this since I always start and then get tired and quit..and i dont want to this time. Im already not using antihypertensive medication..and i dont wanna start using them again..So Ill welcome the support.
 
Welcome, and congratulations on the weight loss so far! It sounds like you are doing everything right, and keep at it!!!!

And I can definitely relate to the self esteem and self image problems. A lot of people do not realize how much of a detrimental effect being overweight has; it effects everything!
 
Thanks for the support. ANd congrats in your lweight loss too. Well in regards of my diet, Im not really following one perse, Im just using the things i learned from years of trying to loose weight, and the things i learned in my nutrition class. Ive stopped anything fried, and now everything is spammed...lol...broiled, roasted...anything but fried. Im trying to make sure i have lots of protein, 4 servings of fruit and and plenty of water. Also making sure i have some fat but the "good " kind, since the boddy needs it. Not feeling very well today, been having some bouts of dizziness and headaches. i dont know why. I might have my hemoglobin low again. It happens sometimes. Ill have to go to have some labwork done...but while i do, ill try to keep up with the exercise ...A friend died so I have to go to teh funeral tomorrow.
And i have a very important test in a week and a hlaf. so stress is mounting and would really love some choco right now...so im drinking iced tea instead..lol..well Ill keep you posted...have a great weekend

I think it is great that you decided to change your lifestyle and I am totally there with the choc craving. I am on day 3 (still counting by days) and currently I am starving. But dinner will come soon!!
I have also a lot of medical issues (although not hypertension but I have Crohn's disease which affects my bowels, I have Asthma, a hiatus hernia and resulting Reflux and a few bits a bobs more...).
By the way I am southamerican (argentinian) and man, I am not liking the european (well more like: british) food! I want "real" food!! Tengo hambre de comida rica!!!

Aww lol..you have just made me laugh so hard..Thats what i keep saying..our food is so good and so rich of fat and enriched carbs...hahah..Chica despacio y podras lograrlo..
 
Havent been a few good days for me, thought this place was gonna help..but havent had much support....dont know what i should have done to gain more acceptance...hope you all have great success in your goals...
 
I've been having some really bad days lately and haven't been around much on here. I'm so sorry you don't feel accepted here! I accept you! :D Let's support eachother... and whatever you do, don't give up! Your doing great so far, congrats on the loss so far girl! How have you done today, so far? I haven't done too good myself. And pizza trapped me a few days ago, papa johns had a special, then I got $10 off another pizza, and it cost me $2.40, so we had pizza for lunch and dinner! At 340 calories a slice! Ouch :( Anyway, let me know how your doing! Just want to let you know that someone cares, even if you don't feel the support, it's here...
