and yet another newbie...

I'm new to the site so I thought I'd drop in and say hi. I've worked out for quite a few years but have slacked off quite a bit due to injuries, mainly from injuries in the past that have caught up with me. I'm hoping to learn some things on here that may help me work around some of the aches and pains, and maybe even help them. It wouldn't hurt me to lose some pounds too so here I am.

EDIT> Before anything go to a certified physician to check you can exercise. Some clubs have personal who can help.

I would recommend to start with cardio exercises, very very low everyday for about a week or week and a half. Then do it less times per week and increase gradually. After two weeks start doing weights if you plan to lift.

But... diet is the key :D

Make your best! good luck

I'm 49, male, 6'2" and about 255. I'm carrying some extra around the waist but my chest, arms, and legs are still pretty muscular.
I've been cleared to work out for a long time. I used to work out "heavy" for years then I stopped for a few years, maybe 5. I've been working out still, just not as much. I had a total shoulder replacement back in '04 and that changed the way I work out. Right now I'm just going to the gym 3 days a week. I use Cybex and Hammer Strength Machines for most of my lifting. The machines are easier on the shoulder. I usually end the workout with walking a mile or so.
