Amy's weight loss diary

I was going through your menus and maaaaaaaaan you made me wanna have some artichokes! Gosh :D

Anyway I hope you'll manage to work out the insomnia. I can't imagine how does it feel like, not having a good night sleep. /shudders

I'm getting there, I think.

Need some ideas for mid-afternoon energy boosts. I'm quite out of it and it's 3pm- which is too late to blame on the fact I'm not a morning person and probably also too late to blame on the sleeping tablets (and I felt this way yesterday too, before I'd taken any). Caffeine is out of the question- too late in the day. The other thing I'd normally do would be sugar (which I don't want to do for obvious reasons) for chewing gum (which didn't have much of an effect yesterday). Vegemite sometimes perks me up too. Any other suggestions?

Maybe you could have a ripened banana? Lots of sugar, but natural sugars. You could also try washing your face with cold water, and maybe jumping about for 30 seconds or so in a toilet cubicle (preferably a disabled one lol).

I think I'm going to have to be more proactive about it, in any case (I try to avoid bananas, most of the time I'm not so fussed with them and they're a bit on the high calorie side for my liking. I'm hoping it's the result of last night's very good sleep and tomorrow will be better (most of the time after a really good night's sleep I feel worse that day and then only better after consolidating it).

I really need to get back into exercise, but I'm trying to wait for the RSI to clear up.

Amusing and happy news. I tagged my boyfriend in a post on Facebook the other day saying I was grateful for the help getting my new desk back from Ikea (and that he was silly carrying it most of the way himself given how heavy it was). His coworkers apparently asked him how he got it back, and he said he carried it. They asked how heavy it was, and he said "fairly light for a desk. 12kg". They were horrified, and said that was a lot. He said "oh, it's not so much, Amy's lost more than that in the time I've known her." (current weight loss is since April, I was heavier back in October) They were stunned. :D (12kg= 24.45lb= 1.89 stone. I've lost 14.5kg= 31.97lb= 2.28 stone since October- numbers rounded to 2 decimal places)

Weigh in tomorrow morning.

Note to self: sleep routine important even when taking sleeping tablets.

Down another half kilo this week, which I'm pleased with given I've done very little exercise and I'm still eating as though I'm doing the exercise.

5 kilograms to go. This is the home stretch.

Ohhhh amazing, Amy. Amazing. Congrats on reaching the home stretch.

Well done on all your great work!

I've made that beef casserole before - it's really nice! I love BBC good food. I'm making their tonight, which is delicious too.

Thank you, I appreciate it :) Hope WW is working out for you so far.

And also thank you for that recipe. I've bookmarked it.

I'm so freaking hungry today. And dinner still has 20 minutes to go :( Been chugging the water, going for the lower calorie options, and I'm still higher in calories than I want to be before dinner. Sigh.

Stew was really good and filling. Bit high in sodium, which pushed me over my limit today (well and truly- I'm at 111%, the stew was 70%, so I wasn't doing badly beforehand). Same problem as before- I made it for the slow cooker so had to add extra water so the sauce was a bit weak. Not as bad as it was with the fruit casserole I made, it worked quite well (in fact I imagine a sauce with half as much water- what the recipe called for- would have been if anything too intense).

Little over on where I want to be calorie wise (although not over) because I ate too much earlier today as I was hungry. Trying to decide if I want dessert. At 1379 calories (of a maximum goal of 1745).

I'm going to do my food diary and get to bed, it's getting late (well, not really, but I'm trying to get more sleep at the moment).

Was going to take my own measurements as I've found a tape measure but they were completely inconsistent with my old ones (as in, I doubt I've gained 10cm on my hips since last time) so I'm not sure what my boyfriend did or whether his tape measure is different, but I'd rather be consistent.

Wow, you have lost more than the weight of a desk :D

So, your sleeping is finally getting sorted, but in a couple of weeks your are going to fly to the furthest time zone from here  Arrrgggghhhh!

That recipe looks awesome! Thanks for including the link. I love reading your food journal:blush5:. You're right - sleep is sooo important to weight loss and health! I am slowly learning that lesson as well.

hey amy!its been a few days! Its good to read you're feeling better and you sound happy!!!So you've lost more than a DESK!good work pays off!!!!
Admire your method of calculating everything!even when you're not feeling well you still keep strong!!!im going to check out those recipies

Thanks everyone :) Yeah, with the diet I just try to keep on as best I'm able. I find tracking really helps me- I update it as I eat, so if I get to a certain time and find I've eaten too much (for example, I like to have eaten under 1000 calories before dinner) I hold myself back as much as I can. It sort of just becomes part of the routine- I go to the kitchen, weigh it, eat it/ add it to the recipe, write it down. (If it's something simple I can hold onto a few numbers in my head until I get to the computer, something like a recipe I scribble it onto a piece of paper and work it out later)

I've lost more than a tiny desk:

Sleep continues to go well. I think I'm successfully retraining my body with the night time routine- these sleeping tablets are doing a great job of it. Not perhaps in the way you might be thinking- sure, I'm getting off to sleep at the moment because the tablets knock me out, but the sleep routine (before I take the tablets) is starting to get me there (last night as I was drinking my night time tea- before I'd taken the tablet- I started to feel sleepy. I usually don't feel sleepy at all when I go to bed)

And definitely check out my recipes, and the sites they come from. And if you see any other recipe sites that calorie count, let me know, I'm always looking for something new to try. :)
