Amy's weight loss diary

I definitely have dark jeans. And I bought some nice tops recently. Probably with one of my jackets or something. (Dress? Me? :smilielol5: That requires having confidence in one's legs. Although... maybe I should buy a dress next summer. I'm not going to be around for long enough this summer, and it's too damn cold in this part of the world to wear a skirt at any other time of year)

hahahaha alright then some jeans and a shirt. that would definitely look hot!
i'm all about summer dresses. i own about 10.

I'm thinking about letting my boyfriend take me out to dinner. I've been thinking about it for a little while. It's so out of my control, as calories aren't listed in restaurants here. And the place I know he'd love to take me I'm sure is a nightmare calorifically. But he really enjoys it, more than I can really put into words, and he's been so good to me lately and gone through so much... I think it's time. Plus, he likes to be seen with me, and how much more so now I'm 7kg down? :D

How do people think I should deal with this? Just go out, have a "night off", not even think about it, then go back to eating properly? Eat a bit less for a few days before and after? Try to calorie count it anyway?

I feel like this is relinquishing control a little bit, but this is really important to him.

The day you go out with your boyfriend, you could just save up your calories. A lot of times, you can find the nutrition info to popular restaurants online. If you can't find that particular one, then find something on the menu you really like, and then find something online that's comparable to it. Then, you can go, order that item, and not have to worry!

I don't think many/ any restaurants have their calories listed in the UK yet (well, I know Nando's do, but that isn't really what I have in mind. There are some awesome little places around here). I'm tempted to just say sod it and get on with it the next day. But it's all theoretical at the moment as my boyfriend's sick.

I just tried on a little black dress that my mum said I should bring to the UK with me. It fits like a dream and I feel amazing in it. I posted it to my facebook and my more fashion conscious friends have been suggesting what to do with it.

I have now been introduced to etsy. Goodbye, evening.

Hi Amy :) Just a quick one to let you know I'm stopping by to say hi! Your ticker is so similar to mine... but you are much further along than me! I hope that you are like a littler version of me a couple of weeks into the future :)

Have you worn those dark jeans yet? JEALOUS! I can't find any jeans long enough that are dark and fit well... Gr. But live it up!

And about going out to dinner, I think perhaps make sure he knows that you are a little bit worried about it, so maybe you can go to a healthier place. Like not a curry buffet joint or somethign... maybe to Thai or Vietnamese or something? Though us Aussies are spoilt for good vietnamese restaurants.... but they tend to have really tasty salads too - sounds boring, but SO tasty! I think Rainbow's suggestion of saving up some calories throughout the day is a good one too.

Definitely do it :) But don't let it throw you off track! Jump straight back on that wagon after.

p.s. Isn't taste.com.au freaking awesome? I love it :)

Thanks for stopping by :)

I think you must be much taller than me (yes, definitely, looking at your ticker- I started at 74kg). If I have a problem with jeans it's usually that they're too long (or, more commonly, they fit on the waist but are digging in/ breaking at the thigh. Stupid legs). I generally wear dark jeans most of the time that I can help it, these are just some regular ones I have (in fact, my best ones I've shrunk out of, which I'm a little bit annoyed about because they were expensive!).

My boyfriend and I have been to three places- and I suspect he'll want to go to one of them again. One of them is a very nice (albeit chain- but not big enough chain to get calories on) Chinese place. He'll want to get the banquet with me, which I imagine is in crazy calorie land. Similar to the little Greek place he's taken me to which he'd like to again, I'm sure. Probably the best option is a place near me- I'm not sure what it's meant to be, it just serves nice food, but of all different ethnicities. But if you get in before 7 you get their early bird deal, which is cheap (10 quid for 2 courses- apologies for the "quid", this is an Australian computer so there's no pound sign on my keyboard!- as opposed to 8 or so for a starter and 15 and up for a main), but more importantly, I'm pretty sure the portion sizes are much smaller because of the price (they were very small for restaurant size. Adequate, definitely- and very nice food- but I'd be annoyed if I paid 15 and got that little). I'm sure the food is quite calorific, but that's another option. Part of me almost thinks "sod it, I've been good every day bar one for two months (and on most of those days almost saintly, I'll just go where we go, eat what I like, and get back on the bandwagon the next day"- which is amazing given how much control the calorie counting gives me. Saving calories- eating 1200-1300 as opposed to within my entire range, which goes up to 1745- is definitely a good way to do it too.

I've attached the picture of the dress, by the way (with me in it). (You'll know because you're from Australia, I got it from Jacqui E- it was on sale for $50, and it's the best value dress I've ever bought. So versatile, and a bit stretchy so it's forgiving on extra/ lesser weight) Would love suggestions on how to doll it up- I've previously used a satin coloured sash (but I don't have any, my mum made them and she's in Oz), or it's been suggested I leave the dress alone and go for some costume jewellery. (something like this: )

I love Taste. I wish there were more recipe websites out there like it. I actually get a lot of people telling me I'm inspired when it comes to cooking. :smilielol5: Really, I just know where to look.

Also, chictopia. If you sign up and enter your body type and stats, you can search under people like you. Fashion has never been my strong suit, but as I'm becoming more confident I want to look nicer. I'm finding it motivational- when I get down to goal I'm going to buy more clothes. At the moment I'm going "I want to look like that, and that, and that..."

Damn it, I meant to get an early night. Have been looking at clothes and stuff.

Hey Amy, I just wanted to direct you to this site:

I think you said you were going to be in Sydney to visit family (sorry if I mucked that up). You can search by area to find a gym, and all the ones that you can see on that site have deals for cheap gym membership/free membership or something like that. I hope you can find something that you want. Most gyms have classes here, I'm pretty sure.

Thanks Aussiegal, I appreciate that. I didn't look at it last night due to the time, but will check that out now.

Also- plateau? :hurray: BUSTED! :hurray:

I have no idea how, given two days ago the scale was reading 68kg (hence the fit- how could I possibly gain weight doing what I'm doing?), but this morning (on the only day of the week that counts), I weigh in at 66kg. :D

AMAZING JOB.

Thank you :)

Carrie, that picture above is me :) I've had that dress for several years. Just need an excuse to wear it. And to work out what to wear it with.

That picture came out without a head in the original (I took it myself, I want to surprise my boyfriend). And you don't really want to see my head at the moment, I was having a terrible hair day and I'm having a bit of a zit attack at the moment. (Teenage problem? I wish!)

Hmmmm i always have a bad hair day.
Feel you, girl.
Ugh spots. I think all this diet stuff shakes the body up a bit.
I have antibiotics to help my skin.. tetrocycline or something ha.

I'm on Dianette which is supposed to help my skin (and other issues... if you don't know what hirsutism is you're lucky :puke: ). I'm no longer a raging 13 year old pizza face, but I'm still way more spotty than I should be for my age :(

I'm still looking at fashion websites. I totally want to revamp my wardrobe when I lose this weight. No idea how I'm going to afford it though :smilielol5: (also, all the stuff I'm digging is skirts- how do you wear skirts in winter in the north of England without dying?)

Check you out, fashionista.
Hmm i think leggings/tights is the answer?
