Amount of sleep?

I recently switched from about 8 hours of sleep to 7.

Quite frankly, I seem to be able to get up easier after 7 hours of sleep rather than 8 or more. More sleep makes me lazier apparently. Now, is 7 hours good for muscle recovery?

six hours of sleep is just about fine for muscles as long as you're having good quality and deep sleep

its best to set a time for sleeping and waking up that sets the mind alarm into action
i dont need an alarm to wake up, my eyes open at dot 7 am in the morning

Just listen to your body.. If you get 7 hours, wake up and feel fine then you're good to go. And keep track of your DOMS, if they last longer with 7 hours of sleep then go back to 8.

You're bulking right? If you're able (most people don't like it) wake up directly in the middle of the night and drink a glass of milk. It helps me greatly, just a tid bit of advice. But the same thing applys, if your DOMS last longer, or you feel like crap, discontinue any of my advice haha :p

What is the reasoning behind the middle of night milk drink?
Calories, protein, and to avoid putting your body in a catabolic state by not consuming protein for an 8 hour period. Some people would probably consider that paranoid, but it helps me a lot..

This is a great question.
Rest is usually the most overlooked aspects of weight training.
But I agree with mreik. Listen to your body.
Try the 7 hours.
If you're soon finding yourself loosing motivation, or you feel really tired, it may be a good sign that you are not giving your body enough rest.
I think 7 hours is good.

einstein said ur brain need 30 seconds off sleep for ur brain to recover from tiredness and about 30 mins for ur body per day lol.

i sleep for 5 hours a day and i wake up feeling fresh and active!

30 seconds and 30 minutes?

......this is interesting. If it is true I might actually do it. Can someone prove it? =D

I normally feel tired after 7 or 8 hours of sleep. The last two days I have gotten 5.5 and 6 hours and have felt much better. Could be the green tea I've drank both mornings though. Doubt it because I feel less tired at the end of the day.

I dont know where but somewhere I read that if you dont get adequete sleep your body has to work double time in the gym so doing ur stuff is harder. Not a good thing for lifting but for burning calories maybe it is?

i could kind of believe that, but id just rather sleep forever

Someones please prove Einstein right.

Because I will willingly get only 1 hour of sleep daily if it is possible.

=D

Well we might not even necessarily have to take exactly 30 minutes or an hour. (although that would be great theoretically)

Maybe 4 or 5 hours sleep. :\

I think Einstein knew physics, but not about sleep.
It takes more than 30 minutes to get into REM sleep - the sleep that most researchers say you need to stay sane.

Check out this site. It talks about the different stages of sleep and how long they are. If you only sleep for 30 minutes, you will not reach that deep REM sleep you need.

That will happen when you're dead.

Nobody, I think Lei Yun Fat posted that type of sleep cycle. Try searching his posts or something, it was where you train your body to sleep 30 min every four hours.
