Amount of Calories to Cut

Hi everyone,
First I would like to introduce myself, my name is Marcelo, and I've been reading many tips from the forum which helped me a lot. I started to get real on working out on August and went from 163 pounds to my current weight of 181. I decided to start by bulking since after you put on some muscles it gets easier to cut. I am 6 feet tall.
I was reading some info about cutting and got kind of confused. I have always consumed very few calories and only had like 3 meals a day and one snack. For bulking I had to increase my calories intake and add a few snacks and I was up to around 2,800 calories a day and that's how I gained those 18 pounds. I was planning on cutting my intake to 1500 a day but I read that it is way to low, and that a good calorie intake for cutting would be around 2700, thats almost as much as I have been consuming for bulking, and I was force feeding myself. should I go as low as 2000 calories a day? PLEASE ANY HELP IS WELCOME. thank you guys in advance! and by the way... Happy New Year!

Based on your current size, 6' @ 181, your maintenace level is roughly 3000 calories. At a 20% reduction for cutting, that puts you around 2400 calories or so to cut. I would not go lower than 2250, which is a 25% reduction.

Not sure how you put on the 18 pounds at 2800 calories. that is basically your maintenance level when you were at 163 pounds. I base the numbers off of a moderately active person though.

I've been working out 4 times a week and playing soccer once a week. So I am pretty active.

My daily intake was usually the following:

Protein Shake (Gainer) - 800 Calories
Orange Juice - 217 calories
Cheese Pastry - 440 calories

Chicken Tropichop - 564 calories
Yogurt - 190 calories

3 bananas - 360
Chicken Tropichop - 564 calories

Total = 3135 calories
Yeah, you're right it actually was over 2800.

Thanks for the reply! I was shooting to low on my calories, I guess If I was to eat only 1500 calories or even 2000 calories a day all the muscle would go away too huh? Once again thanks! Now I know where to set my goals!
