Hm. I'm a newcomer so I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to be doing.
Hahha, i just spent half an hour trying to figure out how to post something.

I'm here to try to become healthier and hopefully drop a couple of pounds. :)

My major problem is snacking throughout the day. I guess I've always had that problem. I never feel like I'm full. I've been trying to eat more healthily, you know, apples instead of chocolate, veggies instead of chips. Regardless of what I eat, I'm still not full. I'm only stop eating when my stomach has already stretched to its max capacity and I feel like I'm going to burst. Yeah....that isn't helping with my weight either.

I guess I'm just here for some inspiration and some ideas. My goal is to become an intuitive eater. I prefer not to count calories...I'm afraid it'll become a bit obsessive later. From here on, I'm going to try to listen to my hunger signals and respect them. I'm sure my body knows what's best for me.

Good luck to everyone else out there!!!

Hey Belra. Sounds to me like you really know what's best for you in terms of healthy weight loss and listening to your body. Just wondering, how much do you want to lose? And if you don't do exercise, I would consider some aerobics a few times a week. Exercise can really help you lose weight, and it can also help your outlook.

I wish you the best of luck!

Welcome to your journal and to the forum. You'll find lots of help here.

For the first few weeks of me changing my eating habits, I was hungry a lot of the time because I was used to eating so much to fill my stretched stomach, and a few weeks after starting, and eating the same foods as I was when I was hungry, I was suddenly full. Give your stomach time to shrink and you'll find it easier to not over-eat.

Also, you've probably heard these tips before..
Have a glass of water before your meal to fill you up.
Eat your meal slowly.
Put your fork down after putting something in your mouth, and don't pick it up until you've finished what is in your mouth. Don't get the next mouth full ready on the fork while chewing.
Chew your food properly. Not only does it make it easier to digest, it passes time so your stomach can send signals to your brain letting you know you're full. It takes 10-20 mins before your brain gets this signal. (Apparently. A lot of people on this forum and many other websites have told me so.)
Drink a glass of water after your meal to fill you up a bit more.

It could also be that you have big plates, making it seem like what you put on your plate is very small. Use smaller plates and cram your food on it. I read somewhere that your brain will think its eating a lot, when its really not..

See how it goes for a week or two and see if your stomach shrinks. You'll tell by how much you can usually eat of something, and how much less you're eating now and feeling fuller quicker.

Good luck to you, you can do it!

Hey you guys...thanks so much for the replies and advice.

I actually only want to lose maybe 5 - 10 pounds; the main thing i wanted to change was my eating habits. I was one of those people who would eat a tiny amount to compensate for some larger amount I ate a couple hours before....but then I would eat more because I would be so hungry, and so forth.

Right now, I'm going to school so I usually have trouble finding the time to exercise. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can exercise more? I don't have any machines at home either...should i go out and buy some weights or something?

Whew. Ok. today was....alright but not perfect.

I think i started out the day alright with some oatmeal, soymilk, and an apple. Lunch and dinner went fine as well. It's just....the midnight snacking. That's waht always gets me.

I think i'm only munching away because I'm bored and I don't really feel like doing more school work. I need to find a way to occupy myself so i dont get distracted as easily. i think im going to try tea as a substitute for my midnight snacks right now and from there, maybe i'll learn to cut back on them. I eat a balanced enough dinner that I'm not hungry by 10 o'clock at night....just bored and tired.

I'm going to make myself a cup of nice unsweetened iced tea. we'll see how my new method works. it actually tastes really good on a hot summer night.

alright...bye for now!

i actually think today was alright. i actually felt full after dinner! maybe it was because I ate half an apple before eating dinner...

haha. i think becuase nothing went wrong, today was a pretty good day. i hope more days in the future turn out as well as today did.

blehhhhhh

i had a bad couple of days. i saw plenty of cararmel popcorn, chocolate, cakes, and the like. oh the pains of going to parties. it didnt help when my mom brought home the leftover desserts. although my tongue was happy, i don't think body is going to be. i can feel myself exanding as i speak.

well, there's no use in punishing myself. everyone has their ups and downs. i guess im just going to have to work extra hard this week to make up for it. well....i'm off to go eat a healthy dinner. hopefully. no more fatty/sugary deserts for me! err...at least....no more overconsumption of such evils.
