I suppose I should jump right into this: I'm a 25 year old female, 5'8" and about 145-150 lbs. I've slowly lost about 25-30 lbs. (started at 180 lbs) by exercising and eating healthily over the past five years.

It's been a difficult year to say the least - family and work issues, health problems, depression, et cetera. Things have gotten back under control, but the healthy habits that I had spent a long time building have disappeared. I was supposed to get back into the swing of things this week but of course I had a bag of chips tonight, bingeing due to the stress of not eating well or getting my workouts in earlier this week (makes sense right?).

I'm not here to complain. I want to get back into control and take accountability for my actions.

Here's a few Q&A's:

1. How much do you want to lose? Between 6-10 lbs. I don't have a scale so this might not be helpful! I'll be using pictures.
2. What is the timeframe for your goals? December.
3. How do I want to accomplish this goal? Balanced eating, running, and weight training.
4. Who or what can support you in reaching this goal? You guys - maybe. I've tried using my SO, but he isn't that great at supporting me when he wants to eat junk food :p He's one of those people that has a hollow leg.
4. How realistic is your goal? I think losing 6 lbs by December is reasonable, but 10 might be reaching too far.
5. When will you start? Tomorrow. Why start any other day?

Hi, Ally & welcome to the forum :)
I suppose I should jump right into this: I'm a 25 year old female, 5'8" and about 145-150 lbs. I've slowly lost about 25-30 lbs. (started at 180 lbs) by exercising and eating healthily over the past five years.
Well done! Give yourself lots of credit for doing that.
The last little bit is the hardest. You get so close & you have been so good & it's hard to stay motivated. I think it's a good idea to then look around for some extra support. Good thinking! The diary section of the forum is a great place for support. It is non-judgemental & caring. Once again, a great big welcome! Cheers, Cate.

Thanks Cate! I'm glad to be here. It seems like everyone is very kind.

Day 1: I would say that I kept my overeating under wraps. Although I didn't get to eat smaller snacks throughout the day like I would have hoped, I did get to eat 3 well balanced, portioned meals. Go me! I'm excited about that.

Small Goal For Tomorrow: A few more glasses of water. I waited until later in the day and was really dehydrated - no wonder I was getting a headache.

Exercise today: Riding lesson with P and Lyns. plus tons of walking at the barn and errands.

Feeling positive about today :)

Sounds good :) Another welcome from me and all the best on the home stretch. We´re rooting for you!

People are kind here. They should be kind everywhere! I personally prefer to have 3 well balanced healthy meals each day & to snack as little as possible.
Well done on your good day. Take a water bottle everywhere you go. Hydration is important all year 'round. Often thirst is disguised as hunger.

Day 2 Update:

Even after going to the gym for a few years, my lack of coordination surprises me every so often. Exhibit A: Today I was "attempting" some sort of exercise and managed to smack my head onto a bench followed by some list of expletive words and then an apology for my language (so graceful as a lady). The bang was so loud that people around me stopped to ask if I was okay. Of course, I got away slightly dazed. I did stay to finish my workout...albeit somewhere in a corner of the gym out of sight.

I also bought a new pair of trail runners since mine hit the dust a while ago. I'll be running the 12 km at the Whistler Alpine Meadows race on Saturday. I'm excited and nervous because the terrain is supposed to be pretty tough and I haven't trained too much for that. Oh well. It will be what it will be. At least I have a better chance of surviving if my runners have tread.

Eating wise, I kept it pretty good. Made some shrimp paella for dinner and a healthy version of apple crumble for dessert. Not too shabby for someone recently smacked in the head.

Welcome to the forum. Ally. Good job on the weight loss! I am a runner too. Running at Whistler must involve a few hills or mountains-lol. It would be a beautiful run though, I am sure. Have fun at the run. That is the main thing! Nice to have you aboard!
