Allow me to introduce myself

Hi there! I'm not sure what to expect from here but I came across this site, figured what the heck and registered.

A little about me:
I'm a single mom of a 5yo child, I live in Maryland and I have been struggling with my weight since the birth of my child. I have tried many diets and exercise but with my attention span the size of a gnat and the continued commitment motivation of a rock rolling down a 3ft hill I almost feel doomed. I currently weigh 220lbs at 5'-4". Some say I hold the weight well but I say those people haven't seen me nekkid...lol.

What I would like from this site:
I would like to meet people on here outside my typical circle that have the same struggles and possibly help each other win this battle. Sometimes that little advice or a gentle SHOVE from a perfect stranger can help make a difference in each others lives.

What I am currently trying to do about my weight on my own:
This passed Monday I started working out in my parents garage which consists of treadmills, elliptical, stationary bicycles, stair stepper, bow-flex and trampoline. I have a cousin that has set aside every Wednesday evening to come by my house and exercise with me. For the passed couple Wednesdays we have played Dance Dance Revolution on my PS2. I have purchased some exercise program DVDs, which I am anxiously awaiting their arrival. So far I feel like I've gained weight which is very frustrating. My eating habits are the pits but I'm working on preparing myself to start the two week Atkins plan of phase one.

My major goal I need advice and motivation to reach:
My parents have purchased a vacation package to take me and my son to Disney World in Florida come April. That gives me a little over one month to lose as much as I can. I would LOVE to lose at least 30lbs by then. HEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLP!!! :willy_nilly:

Hi there, I am new here too! I am 230 lbs now (lost about 10 lbs). I have realised that just by giving up sugars and reducing bread intake you can loose weight easily. You are also exercising so good on you. I am also hoping to meet strangers and stick around for some motivation.

Welcome to the forum! If you haven't already, I would suggest starting a thread in the diary section of the forum. It's a great way to get to know the other members here and get a ton of support at the same time. Good luck to you! :)

I really need to get my mindset on the sugars and drastically reducing my carb intake. I am a noodle and fresh bread freak so the carb thing is my biggest nemesis. But I believe that is where I am failing a lot with my food intake also. We can do this!!! I will give you some motivational shoves and you give me motivational shoves!!!

Hi, and welcome. I'm sure we all can feel your pain. 30 pounds in a month is a lot, though. I think we are all wanting quick fixes to something that has taken a long time to achieve - i.e. getting to 220 pounds. Slow down a little. :)

Hi - I'm trying to be fit at 60+. I'm doing it - getting some exercise, eating less. I've lost 4 pounds in 3 weeks, but I don't expect to reach my weight goal - 135 - until the end of the year. I currently weigh 153, so I have 18 pounds to go. I know I will lose it, because I am a brand partner for a new weight-loss company, and I want to be a walking billboard for my product!
