That's good that you know to keep an eye out for that. It would suck to put off proper recovery by pushing too hard too fast.I am more worried that I will feel too good and try to exercise more than I should. Will keep an eye on that.
No, I get it from a nearby restaurant that specializes in bison on their menu. They will usually sell it to me frozen. There is also a butcher shop in town that carries it. Bison is more expensive than beef, but it is also better for you, lower calorie, higher protein. I eat so much less than I did a couple of years ago that even eating Bison and some more expensive things I am spending less on food that I used to. Being able to afford better quality food is one of the benefits of eating less. It is particularly true for alcohol. Now that I average 2 or 3 drinks a month I can afford the best and still spend less than I did back when it was more than 2 or 3 drinks a day!Do you have to special order bison?
Thanks LaMa, and today my body said rest, so I did.As long as you keep listening to your body's signals and build up slowly (going back to the previous level if an increase does make you feel weird) I think you'll be fine.
Thanks Petal, I did less moving today but I am pretty sure I'll walk tomorrow. In this first week I am taking it quite easy, but will do whatever walking I am comfortable with. I know its good for me.Glad you are feeling well and it's nice you got our for a bit of a walk . It's nice to move about a bit .
Yeah Liza, you are right. I will go to great lengths to make sure I don't have to go back to the hospital or doctor for more treatment. I don't like it.It would suck to put off proper recovery by pushing too hard too fast.
Thanks Emily, even the slower day today was better than a couple of days ago, I am getting better. Not tired of peaches at all!Lol, I can't believe you're not sick of peaches yet.Glad you're feeling better already.
I think I could eat peaches every day the year round, if I could keep getting the fresh ripe ones anyway. You are right about ops taking a bit out of you, it diI can’t imagine getting sick of peaches. Glad you’re feeling a bit better, Rob. Any op takes it out of you.
Thanks Cate, and today's walk got longer, still leisurely though.Your GK's look really sweet, Rob. I'm glad they like "fishing" & that you got out for a leisurely 2.8km walk.
I hope it makes a few memories, I still remember my first fish, and I was a lot younger than they are. I do think the rest day helped, tomorrow makes a week since surgery, maybe I can pick the pace up a little. I'll see how I feel.Lovely grandkids and it sounds like you're good at making memories with them! 2.8 km is a good bit further than your previous walk, so I say the rest day was worth it.
Thanks Petal, and you are right memories are important.Your grandkids look lovely and I agree with LaMa making memories are so important.
Continue to feel well and be a great grandpa
Thanks Emily, I am trying to make my meals a little more "normal", it seems to be a slow process. What a lovely photograph. I'm sure they loved spending time with their grandpa today! Your food for the day looks good.
Thanks LaMa, don't really know if my walk today was any further, walking app wasn't on yesterday, the 4 km was an estimate, today is more accurate. I did manage to get a little faster than yesterday's pace, but not much.Hey, 4 km is 30% or so more than 2.8 km no matter what your time!
Thanks Petal, and I am working on the transition, but I am a creature of habit, change is hard. I do feel like I am getting there, but not so sure about the indeed part.Eating normal food is good Rob . Seems like you are getting there indeed
Hard to say, I am not sure exactly what 100% will look like. Getting back to the gym and weight training will feel good, but that's probably at least 3 weeks away. I am going to try and figure out what I can do and step things up as it feels comfortable.Great job getting back on the move again, Rob! How close are you to 100% would you say?
Meandering walks are lovely. Enjoy the slower pace and all the observations that come with not rushing it...the bird refuge looks like the perfect area for a mindful walk-about.Not a blistering pace, really more of a meander, but I am feeling good about it.
Thanks LaMa, good advice and I did take it today. Got my walking shoes on and was about to head out the door when I realized it might not be a good idea today. Will see what tomorrow brings. I don't feel bad, just kind of tired and drained.Being cautious is good. Keep progressing as you can, but stay cautious. True for recovery and the transition to maintenance.
Yes Petal the bird refuge is a good safe place, and only a 5 or 10 minute drive, I will be going back. Yeah I don't suppose a lot of the Covid things make sense, but I think ours probably make less sense than most. The bird refuge looks so lovely and seems to be a safe place to walk. It's interesting how in America some things have closed due to covid like your refuge but people gather at huge rallies . It does not compute . Lol
Thanks Liza, and I do plan to keep the walks slow and easy for a while. Kind of enjoying taking my time, I am getting more pictures that way.Meandering walks are lovely. Enjoy the slower pace and all the observations that come with not rushing it...the bird refuge looks like the perfect area for a mindful walk-about.
Thanks Cate, you are right and I am trying to keep it easy. I don't want things to go bad, and I know it will not take too long to heal. It can be frustrating sometimes though...Rob, your body needs time to recover from an operation. Please be gentle & patient
