Check the thread in the newcomers section on Signatures...

then pick whichever ticker you are using and copy the VB Code portion from that site and paste it into the signature section in the control panel here

hi

i just wanted to ask that if u start working out and dieting , basically u do everything what weight loss require.. how much time does it take for the weight loss process to start...

i had read somewhere that the weight starts losing only after a month or so..

pls clear my doubt regarding that:confused:

Actually it depends on the diet and the excercise that determines when you start losing!

so do u mean to say.. that if i follow the correct diet and do exercise...

i can lose weight in 7 days or so????

thx for replying:eek:

sometimes you'll drop a lot of weight in the beginning, but it tends to be water weight that you are losing... You really want a steady weight loss... of 1 percent of your body weight per week.. and it can take 2 - 3 weeks to get to that point of your eating right and exercise.

ok thx for the reply ... just the last one how much calories should i lose everyday ???

i mean to ask that what should be the diff.. between calories burned and calorie intake per day?

that answer will be different for everyone...

it's going to depend on your current age, your current weight, your current activity level and your current calorie consumption.

Check out a site like it's free and you can enter all the food you eat in a day and it will keep track, it will also give you a rough idea of how many calories you should eat in a day to safely lose weight.

this is the final question which i am asking and the most imp. one

if i eat 1200 calories in a day and burn 1200, than with my bmr being 2000+ it counts for a deficit of 2000 calories per day...

and u need to lose 3500 cal to lose 1 kg of weight...

so i can eat anything as long as its under 1200 and i continue my exercise...
(and i know if i eat sweets, and fat theres no way i can restrict it to 1200)

pls do reply
regards

Don't venture too far below 1200

You don't want to go below 1200 calories as a rule of thumb. Too few calories can cause your body to go into what is called "starvation" mode. On numerous occasions, I have had people tell me that they watch what they eat and exercise and they aren't losing weight. When I ask for specifics, 9 times out of 10, they tell me that they are eating about 900-1000 calories.

I tell them that now they have to eat to lose weight. I recommend that they bring their caloric intake up to 1300 - 1500 for a couple of weeks and then come back down to 1200. And generally, people will start losing weight again.

ok and what happens when u go into the starvation mode..
you don't lose weight.. even if u exercise all day?????

i surely wanna avoid this...

by the way i've started walking 2hrs everyday ...
thats 690 calories lost:eek:

You got it.

When your body goes into "starvation" mode, it tries to hold on to everything it can because it thinks you are heading into starvation and eventually death. Its a survival trigger that the body has.

I'm new to this and i have a bit of a problem and im hoping im not the only one. Im 5'1 hispanic and weighted 220 i finally decided to get my life back so I got into exercising and now weight 140. I still feel and look fat but everyone tells me I look so small. But how can I when all the BMI's say im still overweight. Hispanics tend to think a little bit of meat on your bones aint bad. I was always bigger at my hips and booty so thats where most of my weight is. What my problem is ive been at this weight for almost a year now and cant lose anymore. I would love to be 120. I did go down to 135 once and everyone thought i was sick. Does anyone know how to kick it in gear or do you think 5'1 at 140 is ok? I wear a size 6 in pant my measurements are 32-27-38. Anybody out there the same? Maybe I just see myself still fat.

I would say that you just see yourself as fat, personally i think the bmi thing is different for everyone, not everyone is chartable, you sound very skinny to me and i just think that once youre heavy you always sort of have that heavy mindset. now you need to work on loving your body and self and try knowing that you are at a healthy weight and you look great!! hope i helped a little

Hi...I've been eating meals containing mostly fruit/vegatables as my carbos, meat/cheese/eggs as my protein, and good fats. But I've been struggling with sugar cravings. I'm really bad when it comes to controlling myself when I want something unhealthy and sweet to eat...even if it is bread. These meals are supposed to help with regulating your insulin levels, but I've been craving sugar. Any suggestions as to what I can do to keep myself from violating my diet (like I usually do) Thanks!

hi
about a year ago i was suffering from anorexia and my weight dropped to 7 stone. i have lost the eating habits and the constant weighing myself is now over but is it possible to still have anorexic tendencies after all this time? i seem to have such a poor body image and i hate looking at myslef in the mirror or having photos taken. I also analyse every single thing that i eat and if i feel i have over eaten will beat myself up about it.
and also [question 2]
will this have slowed my metabolism down? i am finding that no matter how healthily i eat that i seem to be gaining weight?! i exercise everyday as i am in training for a major event in summer and am active throughout the day aswell as my hour or two of training in the evening. i have searched metabolism issues on the internet and everythng they suggest i seem to be doing [eating breakfast, doing exerces both anaerobic and aerobic, eating small portions at regular intervals]
does anybody have any advice for this? it would be greatly appreciated
thankyou for your time :]
