alcohol question

If I know im drinking at night, should I bother working out that day?

Like today for example I'm going to the gym in about an hour, 730pm. But I'm drinking around 10 or 11. I always hear about if you drink after a workout it's like you just cancelled it out? Is there any truth to this? I still drink a protein shake and eat a good meal after the workout.

My advice is to never avoid a workout. Even if as you say it cancels it out, you'll still get some benefits. Myself if I drink one night I just do extra cardio the next day to burn off the extra calories.

It wont be cancelled out. Though it might be less effective. Depending on how many drinks you have.

If you end up having far too many, and having a massive hangover the next day; than yea, it MIGHT be cancelled out, because a hangover is sickness, and sickness leads to weight loss, weight loss leads to a reduction of muscle mass.

I do try to do some extra cardio the next day and I usually drink a lot of water before I go to bed so I wake up feeling normal. I usually drink 1-2 times per week and I'm still getting good results.

If you're getting good results than why ask? I think drinking alot of water like you're doing is the only way to reduce the effects of alcohol. I know it'll flushes it out quicker.

Oh. A small tip. When you get home, puke. :p

If you're going to get drunk, than thowing up is seriously the best think you can do. Than drink a lot of water. The next day you'll be fine.

If you leave all that alcohol in your system, when you're sleeping, and repairing your muscles, you're going to be running **** through your veins.

If drinking 1 or 2 drinks then you don't have to go overboard, get a lot of water in you and some slow burning protein in your system before bed.

If drinking more than that or drinking to the point of drunk (which should hopefully be a rare event) then do this prior to bed to help reduce negative effects...

-take a multivitamin with small glass of milk-Helps with the tearing down of of nutrients and blockage.
-drink a large amount of water-dehydration is one of the worst things for muscle.
-and consume a decent amount of a slow burning protein source (like cottage cheese)

Granted this doesn't fix anything but it will help a little.

Yea when i drink it's to get drunk:D

But I drink water until i can't anymore before I go to bed and I feel fine in the morning...doing it right now actually:eek:

if you go to bed drunk, your body has to focus on fixing the drunk damage instead of the workout damage, so i guess recovery is slower if you drink after you workout.
