Ok well I need a swift kick or something! I can't get back on track! OY! Motivation where did you go?! I expect a response from ERRTU lol You seem like the type to give a swift kick. :)
 
Motivation sucks especially when it goes away. that tends to be my big problem i go good at first then i go back to my old ways. Have you been to one of those sites that calculates your calorie intake? that might help. it has for me. heres the basic math on how to calculate it
your weight x .35 (for women/.45 for men)x 24
and that gives you your calories before you do any exercise or anything.
But you need more calories than that to maintain your weight
ex:my rmr is about 1400 but to maintain i need 1900 cals
so if i dont do any extra exercise and eat 1900 cals i stay the same
but if i burn 500 cals a day for 1 week (by exercise or cutting cals) i would loose about 1 lb.pretty basic but thats how it works
As for Errtu, can't speak for him but he would probably say-eat more protein,lift some weights and don't go under 1700 cals a day/or something like that ;)
I know you can get back on track :D just find an exercise you love (lol not to many out there i know)sorry i went on so long

You're one of the most motivated people I've come across this forum not to mention all of the motivation you pass on to all of us. You can do it we all know you can. I still haven't been able to eat anything since my surgery but as soon as I can I'll start posting again and I expect to see post and encouragement from you. Who else will keep me in line. love ya
 
Ok look, this is what I used to do and it helped me out ALOT! I sat down one day and wrote this little letter to myself, It basically said "Look Korrie you can do this. I'm going to loose 20 pds (just take it a little at a time, sometimes looking at the big picture is overwhelming) I deserve to do this for myself and I need to do this as an example to my daughters, I CAN DO IT and I WILL DO IT, ect ect" And I had a couple of "fat" pictures of myself, I put it beside my bedstand so I will read it as soon as I get up. I also find, If I make myself take a walk right away I tend to have better days.

btw...Dr phil says you cannot rely strickly on your willpower. Emotions come and go. You need to set up a "no fail" enviroment. Get the junk out of the house and surround yourself with supportive friends and family.

Well I would normally say something like what the hell are you doing, get of your ass, but since I said something like that before, and no one liked it, I quit being harsh. lol at Smiley, if your losing all your motivation then enter in some sort of contest, like a 5k race, who cares how well you place, if you enter and train for it and finish the race you may find you have a new hobby, running. Then comes the harsh stuff, what the hell are you doing losing motivation! dammit if you don't get going again what do you want, fat or something you can look at and say, damn I did good. I personally would like to see you accomplish your goals but if your quitting be gone with you! Sorry if this offended anyone but I just thought I'd add a little bit of both sides of my personality. Good luck to you coaster, and you better not quit now, or else.
 
Talk about harsh lol... the poor girl is probably scared of you now ;)
but you make a good point. Entering a contest is great and you can help out a good cause at the same time. last year i did a 5-10k walk and fun run for breast cancer and it was great and i'm planning on doing it again this year if i can(hopefully w/ a whole lot more running than walking :D )
 
be careful with running ... it's addictive (apparently). My Uncle and my Aunt started running to get in shape a few years back and now he can't stop. He says it's like a drug ... now he runs in marathons ... i think he's crazy, but man ... he's in good shape :)

btw, i heard on one of those talk shows motivation lasts about 3 months and thats when most people give up. you dont want to be one of those statistics, do you?

Angela (errr cute)~ I'm so glad to see you back to posting! Thank you so much for reminding me how motivated I once was, and that I CAN and WILL get back to that point. I know we'll do it together!

Korrie (newbride)~ Thanks so much for all that you've done for me lately! Without your posts and e-mails I was definitely on my way to fail. I hope you want to do this again because I'm going to. I took your advice on the letter. I haven't started yet but it really has helped me get my motivation back. Oh and as for Dr. Phil...I'm really not a big fan of his but it definitely makes sense. Willpower fades and so do emotions. Today when I go home, the junk is getting pitched, and some of it stored in a drawer (where I won't see it). Now if only I could get Greg to let me get rid of his junk! LOL!

CDN Boy~ What better addiction could there be than running? I'll take running over food anyday! LOL!

Wonderwoman~ Thanks for the kick! :) Were you wearing a boot? haha! Seriously though...thanks for the motivation tip...I most definitely do NOT want to be a statistic (surely not a bad one anyway!)

Errtu (last but definitely not least)~ First of all...I grew up with 2 older brothers that were 7 and 10 yrs older than me. So don't worry Smiley, anything Errtu says couldn't be much worse than what I've already experienced. LOL! Anyway! Thanks soooooo much for that! I don't know about the race...running competition kind of scares me but we'll see on that one. Regardless, thanks for the harsh reality. Sometimes I need a little harder of a push and you gave it to me.
