After a big workout, can I workout the next day?

Alright, tonight I ran my first 10 km in 51 minutes 30 seconds. Yesterday I had a rest day, and today I obviously felt great... my question is after such a big workout, is it okay if run again the next day? I've really begun to enjoy pushing myself, and I do think I'm past the fear of burning myself out. If there are any others running I'd appreciate some feedback.

Hi There,

I'm running 4.5kms every day along with some weight training. I believe the more you run the better, maybe not 10km every day, but like I said, anything put in will help.

Just by running and watching what I ate I lost 10kgs in the beginning of the year...pity I had an operation where I became inactive for 3 months. But I'm back "on track" lol and running again.

Don't push yourself too hard, but its always a good thing!

I don't see a problem

Except if you have an injury. When working out or walking or strength training, the objective is to build on what you have done previously. When I started walking, I was doing 3 miles and then worked up to doing 5 and 6 miles. I would do 10 on Friday and 10 on Saturday. I am now in the gym doing the treadmill or elliptical for 20-30 minutes and then weight training my legs/abs one day, chest/shoulders/abs the next day, and arms/back/abs on the third day.

Obviously, I will be seeking to increase the weights as I gain more strength. On Friday and Saturday, I will be doing an hour on the treadmill or elliptical and an hour on weight training.

My $.02
