advice on reccomended cals.

hi there!

iv been healthy eating now for about 5 weeks and i must say im loving the food.
i currently weight in at 23 stone @ 5ft 5inches (female), down from 23.6. the problem is i think i am only loosing water. my diet itself is good. i think it might be down to my calorie intake, i just cant work out if im over or under eating!.

i did a few calculations using internet calculators based on BMI, but im not sure if these are right. im currently on about 2000-2200 calories a day. im aiming for 1.5lb a week so i dont stall my metab.

foods im eating consist of, fish, chicken, almonds/nuts, sweet potato, brown pasta.. all the good stuff with a mix of essential fats and clean carbs.

im at a loss and could use some advice! my boyfriend knows how to healthy eat but is unsure on calories etc for females.

you're only 5'5" so 2200 cals a day is too many for you to lose weight on. I'm 5'9" and male and 2200 is about my cutting caloric intake.

you need to google 'harris benedict BMR formula' and use an online calculator.

Remember BMR is RESTING metabolic rate, so you need to use a daily activity multiplier (1.25 - 1.3 is probably a good multiplier for the average person). So if it said you needed 1,000 calories for BMR, your modified caloric needs would be 1,250 to 1,300 calories (of course that's WAY low but I wanted a nice round number for showing the math).

thanks malkore, i was hoping someone would suggest it was too much, because i felt deep down it was too.

Harris Benedict formula recommends 3000 calories for my activity and weight/height.

however it says it will be very inaccurate for those who are very muscular or very fat. now obviously i fall into the very fat range so 3000 calories seems excessive for my maintain weight.

how off would this be?
