Advice and guidance please....

I'm obviously misunderstanding how this forum works. Joined about a week ago and have been keeping a "weight loss diary". I think I was under the impression that as you give notes and ask questions in your diary people would provide feedback and/or their experience. But, that is not happening so I'm hoping someone can tell me where I should be posting questions versus just keeping a "diary". I DO want to keep the diary...it has seemed important to me that writing out your thoughts each day is becoming something I kinda look forward to, but I do have questions and such that I feel others can give me advice with and that isn't happening the way I think it's supposed to with all this experience out here!

Open to your help and your suggestions to help me find support and feel involved :bigear:
 
AFAICT, diaries seem to be more of a thing for chit-chat and cheerleading if you have a lot of readers, and to record things too boring for you to care if anyone else reads if you have few readers. The best way to get many readers: comment a lot in other people's diaries.

Newcomers / On Topic / Advanced Weight Loss is where most people post questions.
 
Do you post in other people's diaries? People usually return the favor..basically you get what you give. If you have specific questions, you can ask in On Topic or Advanced WL.
 
Firstly, welcome to the site!

As far as the diary goes, my opinion is that the diary is a tool for YOU primarily. You post not only your food intake and exercise, but also moods and events that may have contributed to the how's and why's you did what ya did that day. That way you can reflect back on it for lessons learned and or for motivation etc.

Now, as far as others posting to your diary- that usually happens as time goes on and you become more familiar with others on the site, and they with you. The more you post in other threads, the more others will get to know you and want to know more about you. Feel free to post questions and comments on other appropriate threads.

Thank you all for the guidance! I think I misunderstood what to do. I am finding it more helpful to post here in the newcomer area and using the diary as a place to put my thoughts.

I'm new too!

I haven't even started a journal yet (I am so not computer savvy), but I am going to try to find your journal. This is going to sound pathetic, but I actually run 2 weight loss centers...so I am great at helping others lose weight but I need to lose a lot myself. I have struggled with eating disorders for years and after having 2 kids I am at an all time high.

I look forward to seeing your progress!

Also, Allyphoe, were you at 197 when you started in October? That's about where I am now and we have about the same goal weight. (Mine is 125, I am currently at 201), so I hope I can make the same kind of progress as you have!
