Advice about my eating...

Hi All

Im looking to just get generally healthy. Tad over weight (small belly) but not totally unfit - i usually play football, cricket and climb regularly but that has all slipped recently. But its picking up now.

I don't want a "diet" as such - still want the treats in moderation - but just a general good eating habit.

This is what im currently aiming to maintain...please advise if i need more of something or less than something if needed:

Breakfast - Museli, slice of toast and a coffee. Some times juice.

Lunch - (i have a job that invovles visiting our customers so i kind of eat inbetween calls and this is generally what i live on in the day)
1 Bananna, 3 Carrots, 2 handfulls of Grapes, 2 Tangerines, Mixed nuts with choc rasins in there (good ratio though) and a simple meat sandwich (plain ham or chicken) for protein.

Will throw in a bacon sandwhich and maybe a coke maybe twice a week in there but still eat the fruit and drink nothing but water.

Dinner - (salad = lettuice, cucumber, tomato, peppers, onion, nuts)
Grilled Chicken, Salad, Jacket Potato and some Beans.
Stew - Diced beef, 2 mixed veg caserole packs and thick white bread.
Grilled Burgers, Oven Chips and Salad.
My girlfriend will cook a curry or hunters chicken once a week something like that.

Will have a desert. maybe some pop or beer. supper will be something like scrambled egg on toast, pizza or something.

Will have a take away once a week.

This is combined with running or cycling, as well as sports. So in general i think im pretty balanced...if i can stick to it...sometimes ill have the bacon sandwhich everyday and several take outs...need to work on it =)

That doesn't really sound that healthy.

Your eating chocolate every day, coke a couple times a week, and eating pizza, beer, takeout every week...?

I'm not saying never eat those things, but they should be in moderation.

If your going to eat foods like that, you need to figure out how many calories your eating. It's very easy to over eat on high calorie foods. It's good you don't want to be on a "diet" but eating extra veggies doesn't make it ok to drink soda.

Hey,

If you want to lose weight, you just can't do it a little. You need to do it with both hands, so to speak. You need to get your hands on calorie information and KNOW that you have limited your food intake below the calorie balance point for your body. It is all about math (energy in - energy out = weight gain or loss). it is pure numbers

Unless you manage this somehow, it will be a bit and mostly miss affair. Make sense?

honestly the thing that i would be most worried about is the snacking on nuts and chocolate. that adds up calories FAST, unless you are careful to only have a certain amount with you that isn't too high in calories.
