Hi everyone I'm new here. I'm 5'5 and 163 pds and really out of shape! I'm starting by trying to stop eating bad things for me and I can do pretty well. I eat veggies, fruit, protein try to stay away from too many carbs - mainly try to stick with potatoes. But i just can't seem to stay away from chocolate! I actually crave it to the point that i'll go out and get it if i don't have any. I try to make it through even just a day and then all the sudden it's like i can't help myself anymore then i'm on the run! Does anyone else have this problem? any ideas on what i can do? I don't know if it's physical or mental but it's driving me crazy!

I joined curves too it's just i wish i was as motivated to go there as I was for chocolate! Maybe i just like self sabotage:eek: Any help you all might have is much appreciated!

Have you tried something like chocolate protein shakes? Might be a healthier way to get in your fix than eating straight chocolate. :)

Even if you do have a little chocolate every day, it's not going to hurt you if you stay within your calorie limit. As long as you burn more calories than you eat, you will lose weight. So if you can eat a little in moderation, then it might be worse to deprive yourself.

Hi wmcgourne,

Welcome to the forum. I am also new here. But What I want to tell you there are expert in this forum who always help people like you. So stay tune...:)

Have you tried sugar less chocolate? I have one piece every day and it's only 55 calories (depending on the type). It may be better for you and tastes just as good. I get it from Purdy's, an excellent chololate shop here in Canada.

I don't have any advice for you but I just want to say I know exactly what you mean. I now have 2-3 chocolate bars a day and I'm trying to cut down. The other day we didn't have any chocolate in the house so I sat and ate some chocolate spread out the jar with a spoon. It's terrible really.

I might give the chocolate protein shakes or the Xocai chocolate a try. I'd love to be able to go a full day without feeling the need to indulge!!

Anyway, best of luck kicking the habit!!

I am no expert & can't say what will work for you but I started out about the same weight as you in March & found that the only way to avoid a chocolate binge was just to bite the bullet & exclude it entirely from my diet for the time being.

With a sensible diet & regular mild excercise I have made it down to 127 & am in no hurry to mess with the results by adding it back yet.

Good luck!

hi, why dont you try allowing for a small amount of choccie out of you daily/weekly calorie allowance. in the uk i can get a not to small bar of dark choc for around 250 calories (+ the dark >70% is quite good for you in small amounts). i am not a big chocaholic, but i allow for my fix of hummous + baked type crisps on a regular basis.slim
