Actually a good article from nytimes

I never knew that. So are you saying that stretching the old-fashioned way is bad for you? Hm.

I'm not saying anything. But it's been found empirically and through pretty solid research that dynamic warmups tend to do you better than the static warmups that were classically taught to most of us.

Static stretching isn't bad. It's just not optimal pre-performance. There's some data suggesting it can actually lead to injury but I'm not sure about all that.

I know with myself and all my clients... we warmup dynamically pre-performance, no matter what that performance is... and we do static stretching post-performance.

What about static stretching at the end of a workout, has anyone seen any research on that? I enjoy it, and find it so relaxing to just plop on the floor and hold those stretches. Of course, I'd look at changing up my routine if I were doing more harm than good.
