Acne and diet?

Hey you guys....

I've had acne since middle school and i was just wondering if your diet has anything to do with acne. I've just started trying to eat healthier so do you think it's possible that my acne will get better as well? Gosh, I'm really hoping that it will. That would just be one more motivation to improve my diet.

I don't really know the answer to this question, but know that it's important to wash your face. Do it once in the morning and once in the evening. If your skin is sensitive, follow up the wash with an application of non comedogenic face lotion. I rarely get pimples anymore, which I think is aided by the fact that I wash regularly. Of course, I'm sure getting a little older also helped with that.

Hi BelraX!
Now my comment is neither guaranteed nor ... well it's just my experience!
To me, and I don't know if it's acne or just pimples etc. in my own case, but:
- drinking a lot of water (nearly exclusively) helped a lot
- if living in a more polluted area, even if you don't wear makeup (I'm really sorry if you're a guy! it's not written on your profile! so I appologize) you definitely need a sort of cleaning routine (some say soap, some use special face wash... I follow what my skin seems to like really!)
- avoid as much as possible fried food (can't hurt anyway, right?).

Those three things did diminish the amount of pimples I get. Now, of course, ironically I'm not always best at following my own advice sadly, so when I get home really tired... eek. But I do try!

Yes it will absolutely help. I've never ate healthily and as a result I've had at least one pimple every day of my life. I wouldn't call it acne however, so you should see a dermotologist. But drinking at least 3 L of water a day will help, eating healthful foods, and washing your face, in addition to regular exercise will improve your skin. My 16 y.o. sister had acne and she started eating better and drinking less diet coke and more water and her skin is looking better every day.

thanks so much for your replies you guys!

oh yeah...sorry about the confusion. yes, I'm a girl. :)

I also just starting using AcneFree....I think its a spinoff of ProActive. It's remarkably similar...

Anyway.... Alright! I'm going to eat better! hahhaha...

Thank you so much again!

Avoid chocolate is the best advice i can give you, drink much.
I have noticed when im exercise and get sweaty my pore is opening.

I think a lot of it has to do with genetics. I don't mean for this to sound wrong, but I have a good complexion (except for a few blemishes at that time of the month) and I eat everything, and for years didn't wash my face at all. I do however notice that it feels better when I drink more water. I've heard different things, I guess it just depends on the body. You know, like how some people can eat anything and still be stick figurely. But good luck,I'm sure you'll find something to work for you!

Well I suffered from acne at a point in my life, SEE A DERMATOLOGIST....dont rely on proactive n other shit...they can cause SCARRING...and you dont wanna be walkin around with those red horrible pimple scars all your life. These are the things that help-

- AVOID diary products (contains bovine hormones, you know that you can get hormonal acne...so why inject more hormone in your body? To increase the odds of getting acne?? I dont think so!)
- Avoid soda (I have no idea why, but I heard this from my dermatologist nurse)
- DRINK WATER (to flush out your bodily toxins)
- Exersize (Sweating helps to release a lot of toxins through your dermis)
- Eat VEGETABLES and fruits <- emphasis on the vegetables, as they are more healthy than fruits...giving you fibre, while not much sugar!

HOPE THIS HELPS..

I've never had a problem with acne, but I will say that my skin got a LOT better (moister, less rough, less dull looking) when I started eating a healthy diet and drinking a LOT of water. At this point I drink about a gallon of water per day, I work out, and I eat healthy probably 80% or more of the time - with the occasional "free" day or meal.

My skin is much healthier looking than it ever has been.

I've had acne for years, the deep painful kind. I've used all kinds of products, have eaten differently, drank only water. I've got a strict skin cleansing routine.
Nothing worked for me so far so I dont know what the deal is. I'll eventually see a Dr about it. I suspect its due to my hormones being messed up (thanks ovaries, you beetches).

Update: So the other day I started having the worst breakout in my life. I've been reading around and yeah, apparently weightloss can cause skin breakouts. Ha. Thats juuuust great.

Oh well, it will be worth it in the end.
