abs diet frustration

I just started the abs diet for women, and in 1 week i haven't lost anything. not 1/4 of an inch, not 1/2 of a pound. I was wondering if maybe Im eating too little, or what the problem could be.

I eat 3 small meals and 3 small snacks a day. I try to eat small doses of good fats like they recommend, such as natural peanut butter. I drink a 100% whey protein supplement after my strength training which I do 3 days a week with 5 lbs weights. Of the other 4 days of the week, 2 I play dance dance revolution for cardio for 30 mins~ and one day I do a 25 min interval workout on the treadmill.

I keep a food diary and lately I've been consuming around 1,100-1,400 calories a day. for someone who weighs 145 pounds, is this a decent intake for losing weight, or am I eating too little and my bodys starvation mechanism kicked in? I think I've become nearly obsessed with calories, and I hate it.

I also have a problem with adding more protein to my diet. I don't eat red meat and I hate fish and eggs. so they only protein I'm getting is whenever I eat grilled chicken or a turkey sandwich, which is maybe every other day. do you think I should add in more protein?

also drinking and dieting. I hear they're worst enemies, but I just can't eliminate drinking. will one night of drinking a week totally kill my weightloss? I swapped my favorite high calorie beers for lower ones such as rolling rock light that have about 80 calories each, or I try to drink rum with diet coke.

I got stuck at 151 for about two weeks, then I dropped my calorie intake to around 1,000 for two days. That seemed to kickstart things moving again, and I went back to eating my normal and worked my way down to 145. Maybe I should do that again? I'm scared to kick my body into starvation mode, but I'm also scared to try eating more than I normally do. I'm just feeling confused, frustrated, and totally consumed by my diet right now..

Weight can be a tough thing to go by on the abs diet. That diet is set up so you gain muscle. Do you have a body fat tester? That might help to show your progress. Just keep at it!

You've only been on it for 1 week, you've got to wait a little bit longer to see results.

Why 5lb weights, are you going to increase the weight when you build up strength?

diet and protein and such...

First off, the protein thing. As nc_bmac08 said, this diet is set up to gain muscle, and that's what the protein is going to do for you - geared toward losing fat and maintaining/gaining muscle. That said, adding more protein may help your body burn that fat - I would recommend adding in a protein shake to your diet (these are great after workouts!). I really like whey protein, but soy or egg work as well. With the whey, you want to look for something around 100 calories, 20ish grams of protein, and hopefully 0 fat per serving. The taste may take a little getting used to, I'll admit, but after you've had a few, a smoothie will taste strange without it! or try a couple different protein powders to see which one you like best.

In terms of drinking, I really don't think one night a week is going to hurt; everything in moderation! Make sure you eat before, but keep those calories in mind when you're planning your day, I guess. That's my opinion.

Hope this helps!
