LORD HELP ME... cause I can't do it on my own...

Honey, go read this post: http://weight-loss.fitness.com/weight-loss-diary/4726-three-wishes-wishes-178.html#post271604

It could be you in a year.

The motivation can only come from within.
Make a list of the things you don't like about your life as it is now. Then make a list of those things as they would be if you could have them the best possible way. Are there things in your list, which are related to weight?
Get rid of the first list, save the second one. And go back to the good things, as you want them to be, every time you feel a lack of motivation.
You CAN do this!

you can do this on your own...

remind yourself of your reasons for wanting to do this - you can either right them down, or just keep them in your head - doesn't matter what those reasons are but have that reason be something that is meaningful to you (and it's ok for it to be shallow - i think most people who say they are doiong it for health reasons are telling a bit of a lie anyhow :D

take it day by day meal by meal and plan ahead as much as you can - don't put your calories so low that you deprive yourself.. give yourself milestones that you reward yourself and mae that reward something good... not necessarily food.

Cheese is my biggest weakness and I won't give it up - fats aren't the enemy you can make those calories fit into yurday -but make them a really good cheese that you enjoy - low fat cheeses aren't as satisfying as the full fat ones - have less of the good stuff nd savor it...

I think for me it's like an addiction. It's gotta be cold turkey for a while. Then once I have it under control, I'll work a little back in as a reward. I know myself well enough that I need to say NO to the cheese.

I'm glad someone else can relate to the cheese thing out there. Is it just yummy or what.

MMMMMMM

May sound silly to some, but for me it's YUMMMM

I love cheese- cheddar in particular , cracker barrel makes it with 2% milk and you can buy by the block or in 1 oz packages and its 90 calories ( I think) for one ounce - so when the need arises that what I use.

Gettin skinny's been gettin busy

Oh man,

This summers been spinning out of control. It's become really difficult to get to the gym, or get any work outs in. I've had family visiting for a week, now they are gone, but my friend has asked me to babysit her little one (3 month old) for the next 2 weeks from 7am to 7pm, while she does her training. She's in the National Gaurd reserves. Then one week after that I'm taking a 3 week trip to California, again to visit family and friends.

I did make it to the gym once this last week though, and found that I at least didn't gain weight, and I was surprized that it still wasn't that difficult to get on the tread mill and do my normal work out. Although my pants do feel like they are getting tighter. So maybe I'm loosing muscle.

I purchased a work out video so that I can at least do that at home when I can't make it to the gym. Maybe that will help.

I'll continue to try to keep my caloric intake down.

You'd be proud of me. My neices, made cheescake (mmmm my most favorite desert) one evening. Yes I did have a piece. But when they left, they left behind almost an entire cheescake. Normally my reaction would be to keep it, thinking that I was saving it for my hubby, and then not be able to resist the tempation, and taste a few bites here and there until I eventually ate the whole thing. So knowing myself, and my bad little habit, I threw the whole thing away. Kudos to me. Now if I can just keep up this habit. I might actually loose some weight.

So wish me luck that I can keep busy moving enought to actually see some weight loss this month. Or at least not see any gain.

Good luck to you all too.

Keep fighting :boxing: to loose those pounds.

You threw away a cheesecake!? Nice job! If you have the strength to do that, you can do anything. :)

This is such hard work and requires planning. Keep the good food handy, so when you are itching for something to eat you can reach for a low-fat string cheese, or a cup of blueberries.

I know about that no carb thing. I did it for 8 months and lost a lot. I've gradually added back whole grains...there is low carb bread that is pretty tasty...Pepperidge Farm, I think. Cherries and blueberries are so good for you that I never liked how they were forbidden with the low carb idea.

Low carb does work. But now I just stay away from the white stuff...pasta, mashed potatoes, white bread, crackers, etc. It's amazing, but after a while you don't even miss them. Getting to that point is the hard part!
Best of luck!

That's what I've been doing. Staying away from the whites. I'm finding it hard to stay away from the sweets these days though. My sweet tooth has come back. So now if I'm craving a sweet I'm really trying to satisify it with a piece of fruit or yogart. THe weight sure did come off easier with the no carb diet though. It does make it tempting to do it again. Sometimes I just feel like if I could do no carb to get to my goal, than I could maintain once I got there by slowly adding in carbs. It's difficult though to imagine cutting out all of that fruit and bread again. If I get frustrated enough I might do it anyways. I know low calorie thinkers think it's unhealthy, but so is being 90 lbs. overweight.

Sometimes we must choose the worst of 2 evils I believe.
