i have become desperate lol, and i just ordered an ab belt from ebay based on one or two positive reviews. apparantly it does give results when it is used as a complement to diet n exercise. funny how it always goes back to that. anyway, im thinking, eat less, stick to my martial arts, LOT less carbs (rice with ur meals and sandwiches dont help), annd i dunno. lost. waht u guys think, mostly wondering about that ab belt... any experience with it?

lol when used with a good diet and excercise workout anything will work. I dont know what this ab belt thing is but I believe its just something that serves no purpose other than to make someone money. Hope this doesnt seem to harsh but drink plenty of water and have a solid diet and youll reach your goals. good luck

Ab belt... is the the ones that basically shock you, and then TA-DA! you have abs? Actually, my dad tried one of those... waste of money. All it does is shock you, he didn't get any good results. And as for the low carbs, I'm not a big fan of low carbs. Instead of depriving yourself of carbs, eat good carbs, like brown rice, and 100% whole wheat bread.

Oh i looked into those before and theyre crap lol. Its more of a mental thing with those, oooh look my abs are being worked, yeah right. good luck on your diet and real excercise, and drink your water!

Wouldnt it be nice if it did work..you'd wake up like..holy crap im thin...why didnt i think of this before. Believe me ive been there..and i usually purchase the first thing i see when im feeling desperate...when that came on my husband just looked at me and said "NO!"

Those kinds of devices will not burn any fat whatsoever they were originally created to help with sports injury recoveries.

It can help to stimulate muscle and tone it.... only the results will be soo minimal you will not see any difference unless you are already at a very very very low body fat%.

If you notice all those fad rip-offs say when used in conjuntion with exercise and diet.........No shit, thats what is losing the weight, not the ab shocker or the pills. Weight loss scams have been going on for years and people keep buying them. If i didnt have a consience I swear I Would market something for all the suckers out there.

The AbBelts are general TENS units (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation). They do stimulate the superficial muscle directly under the skin, but not very much. They do not burn fat at all in any way shape of form.

They are illegally sold if without a prescription, because, although I really do not think they are dangerous (I do have some knowledge in this field), they are used for pain relief of chronic and acute muscle injury.

Simply, TENS effects only the superficial nerves beneath the skin, which helps the body to produce endorphins. A TENS unit shock will also the make the muscle contract so that you do not get muscle atrophy (wasting). But the contraction is nothing like a crunch, it is a very minor contraction simply to help keep the muscle healthy while you heal. Also, after you use one (they are generally prescriped in 15 minute intervals for no more than about an hour) you may feel sore, as if you worked out, but you will not have any real benefits of working out such as elevated heart rate and the stresing and building of gross/core muscle.

A TENS unit does not cure the underlying cause of pain if you have a real injury like a pulled muscle, just makes the pain so you don't feel it.

So it would seem that unless your abs are so woefully out of shape that you couldn't even tighten your abs, an AbBelt might be helpful, but methinks it probably won't help you at all.
