Hello everyone.
Hmm, I am happy to have found this place! I'm really looking forward to meeting some of you and sharing stories. For an introduction, my name is Susan and my story is typical of your average, stressed out, unhealthy college student! I won't lie, I'm not super motivated at this point. I used to be pretty in-shape, running 6 miles a few times a week, working out consistently and eating healthy. I lost 15 pounds, and then I hit this slump. I started dating a guy and gained a few pounds back but adopted a lazy, unhealthy lifestyle.
I frustrate myself because I know that I'm pretty unhealthy, but I let the numbers trick me. I can fit into small and extra small clothes, and size 2 jeans, but I'm short and I know that I carry extra weight, about 20 lbs. I let myself get away with a lot...I also work 30 hrs/week and go to school full-time.
So, my plan...I'm going to start working out early in the morning. This means earlier bedtimes, and waking up earlier. That way, at least until I get back into it, I will get it out of the way first thing in the morning. On days that I work, I am going to start waking up at 4:30 (usually I wake up at 6) and going for a jog and doing some yoga. Luckily my current boyfriend likes eating healthy and being active (though I don't think I can convince him to wake up at 4:30 to go for a jog, lol).
I'm also going to start eating healthier. I live about 7 blocks away from a Whole Foods, so I'm going to start walking there to do my grocery shopping. I have a lot of food sensitivities and I've been letting myself indulge...thus making me feel worse all around. i don't feel as happy as I did when I ate healthy, and food kind of freaks me out. I just read that thing about fecal matter being present in soda....yuck. I'm giving that up right now. Also...I'm going to decrease alcohol consumption. I don't drink consistently, (tops one time a week) but when I do drink I usually am drinking to drink (hello, college). It's a lot of calories when I think about it.
I just have a hard time keeping myself accountable. My goal is by my birthday in June to be the healthiest I've been in my life. I'm not sure exactly what I weigh right now (probably about 135?) and am hoping I can lose up to 20 lbs.
Sorry to ramble on. Be well!
