I'll probably annoy a few people for asking this but i want to anyway.

Your body only drops its metabolism if you starve yourself right? Well what if you hardly consumed any calories a day but DIDNT starve. Like, if you had a peice of fruit an hour, or a slice of bread an hour, or a range of different (but low cal) food items each hour, so your body doesnt get the chance to feel starved. On top of that, you take 2 vitamin tablets a day and you did weight training and exercise for a couple of hours a day.
I know its "unsafe", but if you work out your muscles will grow not shrink, and you are getting all the important vitamins from the 2 tablets. So would it work?

Please reply.

I actually tried doing that this summer, and it didn't work. I only started losing weight recently, while eating 1200 calories a day (3 meals with snacks in between). I think that, even if you don't FEEL hungry, your body goes into starvation mode if it doesn't get a certain number of calories.

Oh ok, thats pretty annoying.

Yes it was very annoying to find out why my body was being so stubborn. But I like this way better 'cause I can eat stuff that tastes good:D

Are you sure you just didnt do it right because my mum has done it before and it works.
I dont believe it cant work, you only go into starvation mode if you stave yourself, and you wouldnt be doing that so it must work.

It definitely didn't work for me, I did it exactly as you described. I don't doubt that your mother did it, though. All I can say is, maybe it's possible for other body types.

Of course it works its called anorexia. I'm not trying to be off the cuff or sarcastic but that is what its called. Its not healthy even if you are weight training. Your body will have to take its nutrient from somewhere and it will take it from your bones, your muscles and eventually organs.

The trick is to eat the right things so you continue to feed your body and it doesn't take the things it needs from places whether you know it or not you NEED.

Eventually you will have to eat what you need or your body will cease to function. At that time you will start to gain weight back.

Its not a win win situation. Remember just because we can't see what is happening internally and while it may look like a positive thing on the outside.............its not. People with cancer lose weight its generally one of the first symptons, but I wouldn't recommend it as a diet regime. See what I mean?
Hope I helped, try to remember you CAN eat and lose weight. What about a diet like body for life or a cheat day? Eat small calories daily but make it up one day a week. Maybe you'd feel more comfortable with that. There are some good ways of eating that kind of do what you want but they do it healthily.
I'll shut up now. :)
