A quick question

Hi all,
I just joined and wanted to find out your thoughts on this, I weigh 280lbs and am 5ft 11inchs tall, male, I have put myself on a 2200cal diet?
I exercise 5 times a week burning between 500 to 1000 cal, is this healthy for me ? (Ive been doing this a month now, but heard I need 1800cal net daily difference) I am losing weight and feel great, but I want to do it the right and quickest way.

HI and welcome.

A couple of thoughts for you. The first is that you need to make sure you're eating enough calories, but you also need to make sure that you're eating the RIGHT KIND of calories. Just reducing calories will cause weight loss, yes, but making sure to get enough protein and healthy fats and fruits and veg will make sure that you lose more fat and not a lot of lean muscle.

Don't worry about random stuff that you read ... really, there's so much bad information out there it's just crazy.

Set yourself a reasonable calorie deficit (2200 seems fine to me) and then exercise. Eat healthy foods. Everything else is just details. :)

To keep losing weight, you need to record your food, keep track of the calories and weigh yourself about once per week. You need to eat less calories per day than your body needs. When you do this, your body will lose weight itself and you do not need to think about it. Thinking about losing weight is worse than actually losing the weight.
