A question for the Americans. . .

Hi, I'm Heffalump, a new member.

I've been looking over some diet plans on the internet and again and again I find an item on the menus called an English Muffin.
What on earth is one? We don't have them where I live.

Apologies for my ignorance and best of luck with your weight loss.

I'm not American, but.....

A muffin (or, in North America, English muffin) is a small, round, flat type of yeast-leavened bread almost always dusted with cornmeal, which is commonly served split horizontally, toasted, and buttered. Muffins are eaten either as a snack in their own right or as part of a meal, especially breakfast or, in the United Kingdom and Ireland, early-evening tea.
