A pound a week??

They say that's an ideal and healthy and reasonable rate to lose weight.
It's a perfect goal for me.
I just don't see how it could be done, I understand the theory: burn 500 calories a day.
But does anyone actually know of a way to really achieve this goal without spending 3 hours at the gym?
That really seems to be the only way to achieve something.

Okay so would walking jogging calisthenics basic toning exercises and minor dieting, a routine available to anyone and everyone, be sufficient?? Or do you think that would be considered a life change resulting in only a pound a month??

So any ideas or workouts that can help to reach that goal????

I generally lose about 2 pounds a week, it took me a while to get in to my routine though.

I eat about 1,200-1,500 calories in a day and I run/exercise six days a week. I've been at this rate of weight loss for about three months now. I've kept the same diet over time but I've increased my running by quite a bit as I progress. Started out running a few times a week (runs less than a mile), followed by very short (3/4 mile twice to three times in a row) runs every day and then finally doing some decent distance pretty much every day (depending on the day it could range between 20 minutes and over an hour).

It works for me, not sure it'd work for everyone though.

Wow that's impressive.
Congratulations on your weight loss and your motivation.

I love running so Ill try that out and see how it goes.
Thanks!

There are so many ways to accomplish 1 lb of fat loss a week without spending 3 hours a day in a gym- where did you come up with that figure?

Basic reduction in calories taken in will do wonders in helping you achive your goal.
To be honest- most people on here have found that a little calorie deficit and some cardio 3-5 days a week get them where they want to be.
Little changes are what is important- you do not want to embark on a plan to spend 3 hours a day in a gym- you will doom yourself to failure.

Take some time reading the stickies in the nutrition and exercise forums to get an idea of what I am talking about.
