A once obese college boy's journey...over 50 lbs lost, and hopefully more to lose!

Hi, I'm an 18 (soon to 19) year old freshman college student.
Much like other freshman college students in my situation, I've gained the notorious freshman 15, plus much more! Haha. I literally had no physical activity during the week, and everyday I had food from either Taco Bell or Carl's Jr. (or sometimes both!)

One day, I came to the realization that I was obese, and I realized I needed to change! On top of that, my mom told me our family has a history of heart disease, and I already know that being obese simply puts me at a much higher risk for heart problems in the future.

Here's me before...

I turned my lifestyle around by making the necessary changes. I now run 3 miles a day, 5 days a week. I've made the effort to portion control all my meals in order to limit my daily caloric intake. I've also made sure that the TYPE of food I ate was healthy... i.e. whole grains, lots of fruits and vegetables, lean meats, and overall sensible dietary choices. I also do some weight training 3 times a week, but nothing too extreme (such as P90x haha.)

As a result I've gone from over 230 pounds to 179.5 pounds. This was over a time period of just a little over 2 months. The reason why I say "over 50 lbs lost" is because I was too scared to weigh myself during my first couple weeks of exercise...but I knew I had to face the music. I plan to hopefully attain a weight that is somewhere around the 160's...

Here's what I look like now:

I still plan to lose more weight/fat and tone up more in the next several months. I hope this work-in-progress of mine inspires not only other college students suffering from weight gain... but everyone as well.

I just have a question... as you can possibly see (or not see?) I have some stretch marks. Some have been fading, but it doesn't seem like they will disappear anytime soon. Does anyone know what to do to improve these marks?

If the stretch marks are white there's not much you can do except let them fade with time. If they are still pink/purple you can try using creams like cocoa butter or shea butter or vitamin E oil.

Congrats on your weight loss, you look great. :)

Hey man, thanks for sharing. Im 20 and just finished my first year, and I did a lot of damage to my already over weight self during freshman year.

The beer and shitty food really adds up doesnt it.

I have stretch marks too, but I hear they fade over time so I guess we just have to deal with it for now. I heard they become less visible the more you shrink but that may just be a myth.

Very inspirational to me man, I weight 240 and I'm trying to get down to about your size. I think 2 months for me is possible.

Great Job! Just had two quesitons:
How tall are you? and
During your weight loss what was your routine for weight lifting and cardio?

I have a question. You were running 3 miles a day, was that on a treadmill or outside? About the same weight as when you started and if I could get down like that in the same amount of time that'd be awesome! Thanks.
