A newly vegetarian chick's journey to lose weight, and finally be in great shape.

O awesome I am doing p90x too! I am 5'3 and around 152-155 depends on when I weigh myself. I am doing the classic version though :)

I really wanted to be a vegetarian but it really isn't in me. I am the opposite and I can't imagine my life without meat.

Anyways good luck! I am excited to feel like I am sharing the journey with someone :)

Hi Tally

"I am excited to feel like I am sharing the journey with someone :)"

Yay, you sure are!

I'm so happy to find another P90x'er. How long have you been on the program for?

When I first bought the program I started to do the classic version too. My goodness it is really intense. I love how challenging the "chest & back" and "shoulders & arms" workouts are. I could barely do a push up before and now I go deeper into my push ups, and I really see the difference in my biceps.
The lean program says that it helps for maximum weight loss, but I can't help but feel that doing the classic version would help me to lose weight while toning up and possibly lead to more weight loss since it builds so much muscle, which burns more calories.

How far along are you into the workouts?

We have similar stats, so I'm excited to cheer each other on through this weight loss journey.

"I really wanted to be a vegetarian but it really isn't in me. I am the opposite and I can't imagine my life without meat."

Maybe you can take a day or two in your week and make them vegetarian days. That way you get to incorporate being a vegetarian and still have your meat when you crave it.

:)

This p90x sounds very intrieging! The first time I ever heard of it was watching Survivor (I am addicted to Survivor - LOVE it!) and this old girl did it to prepare herself for the show.

Best of luck with it, and well done so far!

Jess :)

Fri 2/4/11

Started the day off by juicing a mix of : cucumber, spinach, celery and pear.

1.5 c of red lentil soup (added fresh spinach and cilantro)

est: 48 0z of water

salad: cabbage, carrot, cucumber, red onion and lemon dressing w/ cilantro

Exercise:

Legs & Back + Ab ripper X

1/5 slices of whole grain bread with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter and 1 tbl sp of hemp seeds mixed with the peanut butter

Could have been better, yet it could have been worse too.

I tried on a dress today. It was a size medium. It looked alright, not great, but not horrendous either.

I tried on dresses a couple of weeks ago, and it was a complete let down. Lol all of the sizes were 12+. It was a miracle if a size 10 fit me.

This is progress ladies and gents.

I'm off to work out.

Burn baby burn. :boxing:

Hehe Thanks Jess. I became hooked when I watched those late night infomercials. I bet it would totally help someone doing survivor because of all muscle and strength it helps to build.

Awesome on the dress news! Progress is a beautiful thing :)

I started p90x on January 4th so I'm currently in phase 2. I am seeing a nice difference on my stomach and my push ups are improving. I can do the yoga sequence now without my knees on the ground :) But its still a killer workout. Its my least favorite one lol but the sweat off my face is like a river lol I went to the gym to start my weight loss on my last fitness kick and I feel like I'm doing better with p90x because it isn't just cardio. In fact I think I will probably get the results I got in 9 months in about 4-6 months with p90x. I plan to keep doing it after my 90 days since i don't have a big imagination and I love the mix of workouts :)

I actually have days when I don't eat meat but that seems to be the major place I get my proteins so sometimes I feel bad if I didn't eat meat. Do you use any protein supplements or is it from your food?

My arms and legs are sore and I love the feeling because I know I did something right :) Hope your workout went well!

"My arms and legs are sore and I love the feeling because I know I did something right Hope your workout went well!"

Lmao, I know exactly how you feel. My arms are killing me, but it is so worth it. I love the definition my arms are starting to have.

I've been doing the exercises from the lean program for six days now. This is the most I have ever stuck with the program. I'm loving kempo, and yes the Yoga video is a total b*tch. Wow congrats on being at phase 2. That is an amazing feat.:hurray:

"I think I will probably get the results I got in 9 months in about 4-6 months with p90x."

That is so right on the money. I had a gym membership where all I would do is hit the elliptical machine, and by the end of the month I would look exactly the same. Hehe maybe that had something to do with the fact that my diet was still shitty, and I would go only a few times and waste my membership.

If you stick to P90x the results are visible. Its definitely more encouraging for me to see my body start to build definition than see a wee drop in pounds.

I think after my 90 days are over I might do the classic program or even try insanity. oO

The only protein supplement that I use at the moment are shelled hemp seeds. They are pretty yummy, and have a nutty taste to them. Two tablespoons provide about 11g of protein. I rely on beans and legumes, grains and veggies to get the rest of my protein needs.

What are your goals for this week?

:seeya:

Weekend

sat 2/5/11

Juiced: 2 carrots, 1 celery stalk, a little bit of cabbage & added 1 tblsp of hemp seeds

ate a can of sliced pineapple

est 32 oz water

Exercise:

Kempo X

ate 1 carrot

1.5 slices of whole grain bread with 2 tblsp peanut butter

Sun 2/6/11

1c of white bean soup

1 banana
16 oz water

ate a bunch of mini rice cakes

ate a small piece of dark chocolate

ate a bunch of skinny cow fudge bars

8oz Emer'c

Exercise: Stretch X

The mini rice cakes and the fudge bars were pretty low in calories, but that is no excuse. They are of little nutritional value.

I've also been eating too few calories.

For the next week I will try to avoid eating bread and instead focus on eating other healthy grains.

Need to make an effort to drink more water and exercise first thing in the morning.

Insanity is sooo crazy! I literally look at it and just feel like walking away lol I really love the weight training so I might incorporate some p90x+ interval which I used to do in place of plyo because plyo was too easy.. lol its not too easy now! But the interval exercise is only 45 minutes and I like that :) I cannot imagine doing it now though :(

My goals this week are just to try to keep my carbs around 100 and get good sleep. I plan to weigh myself around day 60 and post pics then :) I will probably up my carbs after I get to my ideal weight range but for now I want to be in a burn fat range.

I got into the primal blueprint a while ago so I still try to stay within the guidelines but I still eat bread so I am 80/20. Honestly I have no idea if its actually working lol but I know that eating well and exercise has to lead good things eventually.

I'll have to look for the hemp seeds next time I go to trader's joes ;) I had to stop plyo for a bit because I ended up cramping but then after i walked away for 5 minutes it gave up enough so I finished the last 12 minutes.

I love his quote we stumble we fall but we keep moving. :)

I heard Quinoa was super good for you.. I have some and have yet to try it so I can't say its delicious lol

Lol its pretty yummy and very versatile. Give it a try and you may like it. You can put it in anything, so it has a lot of potential for many dishes.

haha I hear ya. I am in no way ready to do insanity yet. Now I'm kind of interested in trying the Tracy Anderson Method, maybe in tandem with P90X. While I'm at it I should join Weight Watchers too. Lol no program will ever work though unless I follow through. :nopity: I let myself down this week. I slacked off and ate poorly a few times. Tomorrow I will get my sh*t together. I'm wasting precious time by not trying hard enough.

Weight training rocks. I can't wait until I can actually do a pull up on my chin up bar. Still using a chair atm. Great job staying motivated. :) How did you do with your goals?

Haha, I bet it is working. I've never heard of the primal blueprint. What is it about?

Did you ever get the hemp seeds?

"I love his quote we stumble we fall but we keep moving. "

That quote made me smile. I have stumbled and fallen this week but I am determined to get things right starting tomorrow. :newangel:

Nutrition is such a big factor that I think people really need to be self aware and decide if they can do something or not. I personally find it very hard to care about points/calories and some people are amazing at it. I was not perfect my first month either ate a whole pizza and other junk but as long as you still work out and are determined to keep going I count those days as okay but not perfect :)

I think I did well on the less then 100 carbs lol Since i didn't measure things out I have no idea but I did make the effort not to get the second piece of garlic bread and the rest of the day I didn't eat carbs :)

Primal blueprint is kind of like atkins but it encourages eating organic and making fresh foods. No bread and fruits in moderation. High fat, medium protein low carbs. You don't really measure the calories because you should be full and not gorge yourself but I just like the premise. I eat healthy foods and I put carbs on the low end and I'm good lol. I can live with that which is not true for any other nutrition guide.

Today is a new day and I hope you do good!

I've been wanting to try that quinoa stuff too, I saw it on the Biggest Loser Australia. They really raved about it!
Don't worry about slacking off for a week, at least you're still here Zera! Hope next week is an awesome one for you :)
You're right about following through though, weight loss is all about consistancy and time hey?
