a Hillbilly diary

well thanks guys I'm excited EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

just wondering what interview that last a day and a half? As long as they don't ask me which fork is which on a place setting I'll be ok lol.

Happy thanks for the reference letter that must have done it lol.

Tammy Larry the cable guy is is is hell he's me lol.....

Wooohooo Shug!! Congratulations!! *super happy dance* I knew you'd knock um dead! Good luck on the next parts!!!

Well today is going pretty well. I just had lunch at 5:30pm so my schedule is a little off. I was doing some on line research about the company's' interview process and I found out you have to give a self presentation on why you should be there. One applicant even mentioned that they had to build a tower out of paper that was able to support a roll of duct tape....

all I can say is INTERESTING.

I wish I could work instead of go to school... I'm weird.

Good luck on your diet, and thanks for commenting in my diary, it really helps :)

Hi HillBilly,
I just wanted to pop in and say YO!
I have a question? when you and pequin talk back and forth to each other, and she calls you Shug!! Are you guys getting that off the TV show "King of the Hill"? I also wanted to let you know that I think its great that your kids can come and talk to you like that. I could never talk to my Mom and Dad:p
Have a great evening

yea pequin is a rare and special friend. I really have no Idea where it came from. I have been called a lot worse by people so if she likes "shug" I can deal with it lol.
I love king of the hill, I'm a huge cartoon buff.
I never could talk to my parents about much so I decided I would stay young at heart as long as I possibly could. I think we understand out kids better that way.

non-lawn-mowing day!Hope your grass don't grow too much
for ya!Congrats on jobee looks like everything going yourway!
Yay about time,have a gr8 day,Tammy:)

well we are still trying to find out about what exactly is going on. I found out the school has a silly rule about not missing any classes the first week of the quarter and thats the exact days I will be leaving on. The company asked the school if its possible for me to drop a quarter for training and they would pay to get me back in next quarter so for now its a wait and see game....

OK - about the paper building process...

I've been involved with Destination Imagination

Every year kids form teams and work together towards solving "challenges" on their own. There is a Team Challenge where each kid on the team must sign a declaration of independence insuring that they came up with their own ideas in solving their challenge and had no outside contributions (especially from adults) - they go on to compete at regional, state and if lucky national levels.

Year before last, one of our teams had to create a moving device that carried a specific amount of weight around the length of an indoor basketball court - our team of 8-11 year olds created a hover craft that carried the judges around. They went far and above the challenge requirements...

Along the way they are given "instant challenges" to help them learn to work as a team, get skills and practice in thinking outside the box. An example, they're given 3 sheets of paper, 2 avery labels, 14 pieces of spaghetti and told to make the highest structure they can that will support a golf ball (one of hundreds of different instant challenges).

They learn very early on that there is NOTHING they can't build out of avery labels and paper.

Think outside the box - there are ways of tearing a piece of paper that makes it a strip large enough for a grown up to walk through. A triangle is the quickest, strongest way to add height and strength to a structure...lots of different techniques but overall, when someone asks you to do something like this, they are looking for how well you come up with something different. The first two ideas you come up with are generally the first two ideas everyone comes up with (I was an appraiser that taught kids mini challenges).

The one things kids LOVE is duct tape. It's a stocking stuffer every year at Christmas ;)

If they make you do anything like that for the interview, never look at the objects they give you, look for ways of turning those objects into something totally different!

Good luck on the interview Randy :D

*tears up*
now thats a motivatonal speach.

oh...I thought I was the only one that bought people duct tape for stocking stuffers at Yule. Everybody also gets socks...just so you know.

Thanks yall. This is an unusual experience. Most of the jobs I have had have been. can you these hours? willing to take a drug test and physical? you start on Monday kinda thing. This process is different.
if they give us the building thing i was thinking the strongest tower type object was a pyramid. Most of the weight is at the bottom and stable due to the wide flat base. well there is no telling really, i just have to wait and find out.

well the meals have been off the wall today due to the time. I didn't know what to call them since the first meal was at about 2:20 pm and the second was about 6:30pm. It's been one of those days.
