A hard sweat with yoga or pilates?

I am bored senseless with my stationary bike. The summer days are to hot for walking/running anyway(100+). Plus I work a lot anyway.

I really want to do something else that is fun and more challenging. I am wondering if you can really sweat (like drip) doing yoga or pilates? I am also not seeing results as much as I would like to with my bike.

Can people let me know which dvds make them sweat the most. I did a search, and I am not to interested in yoga botty dance. I prefer smething with three levels of intensity. I did a search but I could not a get a real grasp what was good. Do share results if pounds and/or inches were lost, it is the motivation I crave.

Thank you in advanced.

Happy!

I have never tried yoga so I can't comment on that. But I do Pilates 2x a week and yes I sweat because you work every muscle in the class and the key is balance and keeping your abs tight. I'm much more flexible than I was before, and I have better balance and I'm starting to be able to perform everything correctly. I don't think it's necessarily an aerobic workout though. I love Pilates, and my arms/legs are looking way more toned! I don't know about videos though :( I'm sorry.

Hi there HH,

personally speaking, I've used Winsor Pilates (advanced as well as the 20 min DVDs) and I definitely work up a sweat. I try to fit in Pilates twice a week as well. When I first started really working out, I had purchased the DVDs off of an infomercial while watching TV late at night. (Yah.. I fell into that trap. haha) I did the DVDs 5 days a week and within two weeks I really noticed a difference in my body quickly. Pilates doesn't really make you work up a heavy sweat (for instance ellipticals or circuit training), but you'll definitely feel it the day after. Good luck to you!
