A good weight routine?

Whats up, I was wondering what a good weight lifting routine is to get every muscle/area and get a good workout without over-doing it. My friend has this thing where he does every machine in the gym, and them dumbells. It seemed kind of stupid though sense like 3 of the machines show they target biceps and shoulder. I understand if one works biceps as a secondary and then doing a machine that does them primarily. Does it really help to do so much or should you do one machine for each muscle in 3 sets, then mabye the dumbells?

Base your workouts on compound movements. Compound movments are exercises that stimulate more than one muscle group at a time. Squats, presses (bench, military), rows, chins, deads, lunges, etc. Focus on these and a proper diet, you'll see results.

Electric, but I can do both. ;)

I decided to go with the full body workout. From the link you gave me, thanks tony. Im going to do it 3-4 times a week, I was reading this: http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do;jsessionid=5A88DE198F198689B398FF969D13B06C.hydra?id=933431 . Whenever you do full bpdy workouts your supposed to tweak volume... im not exactly sure what that means, what is it and how do I do it to get the most out of the workouts?

*edit* im trying to get all this fat burned off and some muscle mass/definition. I dont know if that would make a diffrence in the weight i lifted or how often. id like to mabye loose 15 lbs by the middle of next month.

Tweaking volume basically means varying your rep scheme. Heavy weights, lower reps, then lighter weights, higher reps. Full body workouts are demanding, so be sure your diet is in check. I personally do a split, so others on this forum that do full body workouts can probably offer you better insight. Good luck with your goals

how should I vary them? Every other workout do heavier weight with lower reps and alternate it with lighter weight and more reps? Will this still build up muscle and definition? Or should I do more weight/less reps one week and more reps/less weight the next week?

not trying to be an idiot, i want to get the perfect routine down.
