Hello, My name is Tiffannie. I am a 26 year old stay at home mom.
I have struggled with my weight problem ever since I had my first child 7 years ago and right now I am at the biggest I have ever been.

I suffer from overeating disorder, I definatly have emotional ties to food.
About a year ago I was doing good and actually lost about 30 pounds, but then I went through some issues and gained it all back plus some.

I write a lot of poetry regarding what it's like in my situation and I am also kind of an activist against the growing amount of prejudice against people who are overweight.

Anyways, thats me and my situation in a nutshell. :)

i had a problem with overeating as well-since you have a child, you probably dont have time to exercise.you have to try your best to make time for exercise, because being overweight or obese can and will kill you if you dont act.im sure you dont want to leave your child behind.im sorry i sound grim but this is a serious matter-hire a babysitter,or get the father to watch the kid and go exercise.dont let food rule your life.you can do it! P.S.:things are only a problem if you say it is a problem.eat healthier foods, gain support from friends;and keep your eyes on the prize.you dont have to overeat on junk food

Hi Tiffannie -

Welcome! I hear what you are saying about emotional eating! It is something that I have had to manage as well.

I started a journal in a word document. Every day I enter my daily weight, my mood, how I feel physically, what I ate, how much water I drank, my exercise and great tips I find on the internet. There is a lot of satisfaction from going back and looking over my progress and the amount of work I have done. It is really keeping me motivated because I don't want to put bad things into my journal.

As I started losing a little weight I tried on clothes that were slightly tight. As these items got looser, I became more motivated.

There are many things you can incorporate into your life to support your goals. You have come to a great forum and there are many, many success stories here to keep you inspired.

Hi Miss Apple Tart

I know its hard to exercise, especially when you have a child to take care of. Try doing exercise early in the morning before everyone wakes up, if you can't do that, go for walks with you child during the day, just start moving. Your diet is important to losing weight, eat lots of fibre: fruits, whole grains and vegetables, you start small by eating one apple a day and increase the fruits and vegetables each day. I know if stay consistent, the weight will come off.

Welcome to the Forum.. I have been failing the weight loss war for 11 yrs.. I finally, started to try again as I don't like how I've been feeling.. I was tired of being tired and having massive mood swings.. I cut out junk food.. I could eat a 4 ltr's of ice cream, in four days, I could a 1 ltr bottle of pepsi every second day.. I could not just eat one chocolate bar.. If I had five in the house I'd eat them one after another.. I had a real bad sweet tooth.. And if I was depressed I'd eat more sweets.. And that was how I felt most days.. My sister started a losing weight and feeling great, and so I told her I wanted to also.. So before the snow came we started walking.. I had a step counter that count each step.. Our first walk was over 6000 steps, our next walks were up over 11,000 steps, we got that by hiking in our park.. It was awesome..
Now that the snow has been here for awhile, I ordered a cardio work out dvd and follow that.. Once you start, its so much fun..
Remember that you have to do it for yourself..

welcome

Hi Welcome to the forum,

I hear you loud and clear about the emotional eating. I'm right there with you, but I've been working on it. I try to ask myself before I eat, if it will fix or change the problem that has me upset, mad etc. Mostly the answer is no, so I try to do something else to distract myself. Doesn't work all of the time, but it is getting better.

I think just stopping for a minute to think, really helps. Why not give it a try.

As for exercise, get the kids involved. You'd be surprised how many calories you can burn, just playing around with your kids. Put on some music and just dance. Have a contest to see who can come up with the silliest, longest etc dance. Then teach each other. Time will fly and you all will be having fun.

Hope to see you around.

Slow and steady wins the race - you have to want the results but sometimes just changing small things can provide encouragement in the early days. I just started a diet plan about a week ago even though I wasn't super motivated to lose weight but I'm finding that the small things and the results are helping me to push through. Best of luck!
