A few questions

Im new to the site and new to dieting, I have been on my diet for 6 days now. I was a hard core DR PEPPER drinker until 6 days ago , so now I am trying to find other drinks besides water that I can have without tons of calories and carbs.
I have been drinking alot of diet Pepsi, are diet drinks okay?

Thanks so much

I was a hard core pepper too (stopped about the same as you) now Im drinking nothing but water (and one cup of coffee first thing in the morning) and have noticed a HUGE difference. I cant drink diet drinks because artificial sweetners give me migraines, so they are never an option for me.

Water is your best bet to help you along with your goals

Personally, I think diet sodas are even worse than regular ones. They have chemicals in them that have been related to cancer in labratory animals. :ack2:

Green tea is pretty tasty, and contains chemicals that actually help you lose weight, not keep it on. :)

Barring that, iced tea (sweetened or not) is very good too, as long as you monitor how much sugar you put in it.

Fruit juices are also good for you, just gotta pay attention to what's actually in them. Lots of them are less than 12% juice.

Skim milk has lots of calcium and is a thicker drink, so it can be satisfying.

Course, I recommend water over ANYTHING else. It's the best weight loss aid out there. And it's free! :D

Im just not a big water drinker! I know thats bad, but I just don't drink alot of it. Im going to start trying the 8 glasses of water a day thing. Im thinking putting 8 bottles in the fridge every day might help!

I have never tried green tea, Im gonna pick some up at the store tonight.

I love tea I just don't like it without sugar and thats what Im trying to cut back on.
So are artificial sweetners bad? Im really new to this and I want to do it right!

Thanks

You'd be surprised how easy it is to get used to water. My daughter was a sugar freak, she drank soda and punch all the time. When I removed it from the house and she started drinking water, she got used to it, and she eats more fruit in lieu of the punch.

I'm not going to pretend to be an experiment on this... but I've heard that a lot of diet drinks, despite having no calories, actually lead to increased fat storage. It really depends on the type of sweetener, but just because it has no calories doesn't mean it's ok. That being said I do use splenda... but I try to limit my use. I like making a pitcher of herbal tea - (0) calories - and keeping it in the fridge. When you're thirsty just add ice and it's a delicious drink. Sometimes I add a bit of splenda sometimes I don't :)

so definitely said that im not an experiment.... that is obvious. what i meant to say was "expert" lol. I was thinking about experiments that ive read about involving mice drinking sugar water sweetened with different kinds of sugar, anyways lol.
