a club for people 21 and under who are overweight.

Hey I just joined this forum, and Im from Canada, and I am about 5'5 and currently I wheigh 180, but eventually I want to go down to 135, so thats a lot of wheight to loose, but Im hoping that with motivation, enthusiasm and support I can do it! Well anyways hope to get to know you all better, (and I hope this thread picks up a bit, lol) bye

It's so hard. Why must it be so hard?
I find myself eating healthy, but still eating too much. For example, instead of about a handful of watermelon I find myself eating it all.
As strong as my motivation can be I am such an emotional eater and even if I'm trying to eat healthy I can't control it.
There's so many temptations and when I get depressed I lose my enthusiasm to exercise and it's a horrible cycle.
I just want to like myself and my body for once and I feel like trying is a waste of time because I'll always fail somehow.

I'm 15 years old, but I'll be 16 in about 2 weeks. I weigh 180 pounds right now, and I really want to get down to 140 or 130. I'm 5' 5.5'' too. I really don't want to grow up fat, so I want to change my lifestyle now. The only thing is, I can't seem to get and stay motivated. Nothing ever makes me stay on task. It's unbelievably hard to focus when everyone I'm around just lives a carefree life.

Also, I've always had some anxiety about public things. So, whenever I want to go outside and walk, I usually talk myself out of it because I feel like people are gonna look at me and be like, "fatass!". I guess I'm just paranoid. I would go to a gym, but the nearest one is about 15 minutes away, and I don't have a license or car to get there. My mom could take me, but it's just so out of the way, I'd rather not make her have to do that.

I just really want to find a way to enjoy the remaining years of "childhood" and high school I have left without feeling like a 40 year old mom on a diet.

If anyone has any tips on how to incorporate a healthy lifestyle into a teenagers life, please tell me, cause everything I try never really works.

Bikes are good

Why don't you buy a bike and cycle everywhere? If you don't have enough money, get a weekend job or something, and save for one. Bikes are really great, and then you can cycle to the gym if you want, getting in double the exercise!

im new

heya guys, im syd. Im going to be 20 this year and three months ago i weighed 250 lbs. I havent weighed myself since then because i dont want to get obsessed with the scales, but i have dropped almost 3 dress sizes.Im still a big girl though. Size 18-20.(european sizes) Overall i want to get down to about 150 lbs. My short term goal is to get comfortably into a size 18 for a family party in 4 weeks time. I used to eat so much like 5-700 calories a day, now i just eat unlimited amounts of fruit and veg with one portion of protein or carb a day. I try to get plenty of excercise , but i could probably do more. Its working though, and i never feel hungry. I just wanted to introduce myself, think an under 21 group was such a good idea!!!! its sort of a different set of challenges to accompany the weight loss, family, friends, pressure, fitting in etc. Looking forward to getting to know you all.:)

Can someone please tell me how much I should weigh? I'm just a bit under 5'6, and I weigh 125.5 right now. My wrist is about 5.5 in. How much should I weigh for my body type? I want to lose weight so how much can I lose? I'm 21 by the way.

Well from the chart I use
5'6 women should be between 126-140-154 pounds (the variation depends on your body structure, so 126 is for small boned people, 154 is for large boned people and 140 is for in between :) )
So it looks like your right on track :)

Ok well my name is Bianca, I'm 18 (19 on the 28th). I been overweight pretty much since I was young I weigh 260 right now I'm 5'6 and my goal weight is 140. I suspect that if I stick to it this time and stay determined I could reach my goal weight in around 8 months. Possible? A little bit about me I live in Connecticut, anyone else? I'm fairly a loner now all my friends moved away from me and I'm going to be going to college in a few months to be a Physical Therapist Assistant :)

Hey :D

I'd like to join if that's Ok..

I'm 16, 323lbs, 6'6", and my current goal is to hit 300lbs. My overall goal is 200lbs. I plan on achieving my overall goal before April 2007. I currently do not have an eating regime per se, but I am watching the foods I eat and I have told myself this morning that I will start running twice a day. If I can join when someone lets me know I'll upload a "Before" picture!

Hey, im new. I'm 20 and from canada. I just had a baby almost 7 weeks ago and need to loose the weight i gained during pregnancy and then some. Anyways, i was reading the posts and saw that you can find out your bone structure. How can I find out? :)

Hi I'd like to join too but I'm unsure what a good target weight would be as I lift weights at the gym. I'm 5,2" and currently 161lb and hope to get down to about 125, does this sound OK?

Don't let the username fool you by the way, my favourite footballer was nick named "Crunchie" I don't actually like chocolate that much!;)

Ohh, I want to join. :)
I'm 143 lbs or 65 kilos. That might not seem like a lot but I'm just under 5'1 and would like to lose 30-35 pounds by the end of summer and keep it off. I enjoy running so I've started running about three miles in the morning and then one more at night.
I've also been drinking LOTS of water. I mean, I drank so much that I stepped on the scale yesterday and it read 150. My first reaction was  "I gained 7 pounds!" Haha, but then I realized it was just the water.

Well, happy losing everyone!

Hi everyone, just letting this thread know im back on the forum so oopsies for not posting for ages. I hope we have more people by now *laugh* :p good luck everyone!!!:D look forward to chatting again

Hey! I definately want to join! I'm Kara and I'm 16 years old. I live in Florida where it is awful to have any extra pounds because of the bikini weather. I'm really short (only 5 feet tall!) and right now I weigh about 113. I weighed the most last year in May (at 141 lbs.) and started the South Beach Diet to get down to my current weight. I have just joined a gym and have been working out between an hour and an hour and a half six days a week. I have ten more pounds to lose to be at my goal weight!

Right now I eat around five or six small meals a day and eat only whole grains, fruit, salads, lean meats, and those really good 100 calorie snack bags. I also only drink water. At the gym I do the elipitical machine for half an hour, the treadmill for half an hour or an hour and strength training on the machines.

Is it too late for me to join this group?

i'm a 20, almost 21 female who wants to lose 20-25 lbs.

I weighed myself last night and i weighed in at about 156, normally i'm about 150, but i think it was water weight. anyway, i think it's a really great idea to have a support group and i definitely could use some motivation!

stats:
age:20
height: 5'4"
CW:156
GW:125-130

I would really like to join in this thread.

I'm Elizabeth, 20 5'7 and weight 162.5 (I just weighed myself earlier! I lost 2.5 pounds since last monday! :D)

By the end of this year, I hope to be 118-120 - the doc said it's a perfect weight for me so that works fine in my mind.

My current goal is to get to 150-155 by the 19th of this month due to going to Florida for a week. I've just started the slim-rite (slim-fast knockoff that's cheaper and does the same thing) shake diet. 2 a day and a meal. Works for me :D
