a club for people 21 and under who are overweight.

feeling really crap today guys! just looking so fat and bloated at the moment. been drinking lots of water so that doesnt help as i bloat really easily :( just really worried about my weigh in next week as i know im not going to do very well. i have a goal of 4lb's but really dont think i've lost it :( any tips for getting this weight off for next wednesday? lol

i want chocolate!!!! argh!!!!!!!!!

chocolate protein bars! They kick my craving.. what are you doing for exercise too? EAt lots of fruit for snacks.. And walk everywhere and do cardio and strength training. They'll all help you lose. Do you have a journal summergirl? I don't think i've seen yours - you should start one so you can record your daily activities, how you feel, etc. .. we all can keep eachother motivated and give you any tips. The key is to stay positive girl. Drinking lots of water should actually help flush out your body and stop bloating.. bloating happens because you're eating high-sodium foods, or not drinking enough water or drinking too much caffeine.. blah blah blah ... I know you'll start losing girl just keep it up and SMILE:).. you're doing great!

thanks for the advice elizab3th! :D much appreciated :D after writing that i went to the supermarket and bought me some nectarines, strawberries & raspberries to last me the weekend instead of snacking :D also bought 12 oranages so i can squeeze me own juice! how fun! lol

i think i may start a journal, but i will start in monday, fresh week an all :D:D:D:D Hope everyone is doing ok? xx

Well, I have an update... sort of. We got a new scale, but I have no idea if it is accurate or not. My old scale said I weighed nearly 10 pounds heavier than the new one... but I feel as if the old scale was right. Anyone have a clue which one I should listen to? One scale spins (old) and one scale has a needle that points out the numbers (new). Both, I think, have the springs for measuring.
 
how about going to the docs to find out your true weight? thats what i did and then you can decide which one of your scales is the most correct. also make sure you weighing yourself in the same room, same place in the room everytime and make sure its a flat floor that the scales are on. :D

i had one of those scales that just points out the numbers....does your new scale have a dial at the top in which you can turn to change the weigh to below zero before u stand on it? if it does, make sure it stands on zero...

i had the same thing happen...my scale was tellin me i weighed 194...so i went out and bought a digital scale and it told me i weighed 210 pounds... i found out the digital scale was acurate... so i think u should buy a digital scale,or go to the docs yto find out which ones right....
 
hey everyone,... its been a while since ive posted... but i am still doing my diet and regular exercise...BUT i havent been drinking much water... and i think that is the reason i havent lost any weight in the last week... so this week my goal is 8 glasses of water per day.... NO MATTER WHAT....

i am getting very frustrated... my best friend orders pizza and stuff like that when im there... like come on there is a subway close by...and she likes subway... so why dont we get subway rather then pizza...? i would rather starve then eat that garbage! and she has SOME healthy stuff in her house but its mostly michelina's and pizza pops and that... like come on... she keeps telling me she is on a diet..but she keeps eating this garbage... she lost 20 pounds when she lived at her dads... she was down to 140 from 165 pounds... and she looked good... she moved back in december... and when she weighed hers elf in february... she was 149 pounds....i dont know how much weight she has gained now... but i am worried about her... why is she doing this to herself she knows she is gaining but does nothing to stop it,,, and i know she is saying "she wants to be 120 pounds by summer" but that is nt going to happen by eating chips, pop , and pizza...i try to help and tell her we can be diet buddies... but she just says "yeah" and then she does nothing,,, so when she gets fat.... i can tell her "i tried to help you, but u wouldnt listen" i cant make her diet....she has to help herself with that...any tips?
 
just let her see for herself - she'll only lose weight when she really wants to lose it. Its the exact same with my bf, he wants all this junk food and sometimes i give into temptation cuz it looks and smells sooo good! lol just tell her what you just told us and then leave it at that. she'll lose it if she wants to :D

went for my weigh in this morning and i hadnt lost or gained anything. But i now have a referal to see the doctor next wednesday cuz i could have a thyroid problem??? we'll see how that goes, but for the mean time, im still going to be working hard on shifting this god damn weight! lol

Hey - atleast you're not going backwards! Hopefully you don't have a thyroid problem, you may just be on a plateau. Which can probably be jsut as frustrating! But keep your head up! DanceDance! Good to hear from you again.. I was wondering what you were up to - sorry to hear that your friend is being that way but like summergirl said she'll see your progress and hopefully that'll give her a kick in the butt. But make sure you tell her you're not eating pizza or anything that's 'bad' like that - you can't let her bring you down just because she doesn't chose to diet properly. And be strong! You can head on over to Subway by yourself if you have to, I would. But keep up the great work guys - it's good to hear you're all sticking to it! :) I've got a challenge starting this Monday the 27th if you'd like to join! Cheers!

i need to loose weight for a special event - but the sweet stuff is too tempting!! anybody got any tips on what to take a school to eat to avoid the fat filled school meals?
 
Fruit and tons of it... or if you have access to a microvawe those LeanCuisine's are awesome and do taste great!
 
I like making a big salad to take with a nice fat-free dressing. Even if it isn't a vinegrette (sp?), low calorie stuff is still pretty good if you don't load up on it. Apples fill me up quite a bit too, and they're super healthy! Hmm, any other fruits or veg are pretty good to take as a lunch. Things like celery that are 0-calorie are excellent to fill up on when you're between meals and craving snacks.

The final tip...W-A-T-E-R!!!!! And LOTS of it! It's an amazing way to keep you full when you're craving those sweets or fatty foods. Good luck!
 
Hi!! I know this is super late in the game, but I'm new here and I really wanted to post with you guys!!

I'm 19 years old and also from Canada (living outside Toronto right now for school).

I'm 5'8 and 148 pounds, and I'd like to get to 126!!! I'm kind of a binge eater and I seem to yo-yo a lot... I really want to break that habit.
 
I am super late here as well, but I really need a support/motivation group to help me lose this weight!!

I'm 5'5 and 150 pounds...I want to get down to 115. A doctor has told me before that for my frame and bone structure, 150 is overweight and that I should weigh in at around 110-135.

I've been trying half-heartedly for a year to lose this weight...but I just procrasinate so much. I really need to get this laziness gone. I have an obsession with clothes and shoes so I'm thinking maybe for motivation I'll tell myself that once I lose ten pounds I can buy myself a pair of shoes?
 
Good News!

Well it took me a while (nearly a month) but I lost 5 lbs! I'm now five pounds closer to my goal and it seems as if everyone around me can tell:D . I haven't been on here in while because I wanted to wait until I could bring back some good news, lol. I hope that all of you are doing well and i'll be back on here more frequently now that I have more time!

I'm new here, so I said I may as well join this club, so that you guys can help keep me motivated. I'm 20 and weigh 168 pounds, and I want to get this down to 140 pounds. I'm 5'7, and I'm quite broad anyway, so at 154 pounds, which is what I used to weigh, I looked good, but the goal here is to look fantastic! It's so annoying because at my usual weight, I always thought that I was really fat, but it's only since I gained 14 pounds that I realised I was actually moderately thin then. Sigh. But I think it was people around me telling me bullshit about weight, and just the media and stuff, that confused me. Since I'm tall and big-boned, I'm never going to be like Sarah Jessica Parker or anything crazy like that, but that's only become clear to me now. I just want to look good in my clothes again, if you know what I mean. I hate buying clothes now because I have loads that I can't wear because I gained weight. So the time has come to take some action. Please support me!

I hope I can still join. Here is a little info to start.
I am a 19-year old male from Iowa. I am 5-8 inches tall and currently weigh 185 pounds. I started my weight-loss program in January. I was 197 pounds then and had 27% body fat. I now have 18% body fat and a little more muscle too. I don't expect my weight to drop too much more as I'm also weightlifting to get better defined biceps and whatnot. My diet just consists of no soda, fast-food, and low-calorie foods. I am also on a protein shake to help build muscle mass.

So that's a little info for you. I will be periodically posting more info on my progress. Good luck to everyone.
